A British politician has owned up to sneaking a quick game of Candy Crush Saga during a particularly dull parliamentary debate.
Nigel Mills, a Conservative MP for Amber Valley in the U.K., was photographed getting his Crush on during a Work and Pensions Committee debate. In a statement to tabloid newspaper The Sun, Mills admitted that his attention wandered during the session, at which point he turned to the sugary fun of freemium games for a pick-me-up.
“There was a bit of the meeting that I wasn’t focusing on and I probably had a game or two,” he said, adding that he shall “try not to do it in future.”
While it’s certainly embarrassing for someone paid to help run his country to be playing iOS games during parliament (especially when there are so many better titles out there), Mills is not alone in using his parliamentary iPad for unofficial business.
In 2011, 67-year old Italian politician Simeone Di Cagno Abbrescia, a member of Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi’s PDL party, was caught looking at escort pictures during a parliamentary session. He later argued that the pics were pop-up ads which “came up suddenly” while he was navigating a respectable news site.
If there’s one person today’s news is good for, however, it is the CEO of Candy Crush maker King. Having been on the decline since its IPO this year, Mills’ inadvertent advert will be sure to get the company a bit of press.
Even if it’s not necessarily of the positive variety.
