This is great news. I couldn’t be more delighted that BBC journalist Alan Johnston’s kidnapping didn’t end tragically. He’d been detained for 16 weeks and his release was negotiated by Hamas, now in control of Gaza.
He told the BBC: “It is the most fantastic thing to be free.”

As a journalist I’m happy to see he’s released but what does this possibly have to do with Macs? It’s not like the story didn’t get vast play elsewhere.
This is truly excellent news.
Great! But the news we all want to know is: Will he be getting an iPhone when they are released in the UK?
The guy is a consummate professional. Minutes after he was freed, they interviewed him on the BBC news. His account of his own captivity was delivered with the same level of care that he had previously used to report other less personal stories. Amazing to listen to, considereing where he had just been.
I heard that Hamas was promised no less than 100 iPhones in exchange for negotiating his release.
