Apple’s M2 Pro/Max MacBook Pros launch could have hit another roadblock. Rumors indicated the new Macs could debut in Q1 2023, but that does not seem to be the case anymore.

The release of Apple’s M2 Pro/Max-powered MacBook Pros has been in the pipeline for quite a while now. The Cupertino giant was first rumored to launch the machine in late 2022. Reports later emerged that the new MacBook Pro wouldn’t debut before early 2023. Reportedly, Apple planned to release the new MacBook Pros alongside macOS 13.3 Ventura in March 2023.
A new DigiTimes report now says the MacBook Pro refresh has been pushed back once again. It fails to provide a clear reason behind the delay, though. The publication has a patchy track record when it comes to Apple leaks. So, there’s a possibility of the report being inaccurate.
No major changes expected in M2 Pro-powered MacBook Pro
Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro refresh won’t pack any significant changes. The only major change would be the switch to the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which should bring a marginal uplift in performance and efficiency. Apple’s new chips are supposedly fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm fab. The Taiwanese company started the mass production of 3nm chips in late December last year.
The current-gen MacBook Pros debuted a new chassis, a brighter ProMotion display, dedicated HDMI and SD card slots, and MagSafe connectivity. So, Apple is unlikely to introduce any major changes so soon in the product’s lifetime.
With no other major changes in the upcoming MacBook Pros, the reason behind their delay is unclear.
