Following the WWDC 2022 opening keynote Monday, Apple honored exceptional apps and games via the 2022 Apple Design Awards. In the ceremony, the company selected iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS app nominees that “demonstrated outstanding technical achievement” and more.
In this year’s awards, selection pared down a field of 36 nominated finalists to the 12 winners. Three apps and three games competed in each of the six categories: inclusivity, delight and fun, interaction, social impact, visuals and graphics, and innovation.

12 outstanding apps win top prizes in 2022 Apple Design Awards
On Monday, Cupertino honored app and game developers whose wares triumphed in the annual Apple Design Awards at WWDC22.
The annual awards honor “excellence in innovation, ingenuity, and technical achievement in app and game design.”
What the categories mean
Inclusivity recognizes apps and games that “provide a great experience for all by supporting people from a diversity of backgrounds, abilities, and languages.”
Delight and fun features apps and games that “provide memorable, engaging, and satisfying experiences that are enhanced by Apple technologies.”
Winners in the interaction category “deliver intuitive interfaces and effortless controls that are perfectly tailored to their platform.”
Apps under social impact “improve lives in a meaningful way and shine a light on crucial issues.”
The Visuals and Graphics category includes apps that “feature stunning imagery, skillfully drawn interfaces, and high-quality animations that lend to a distinctive and cohesive theme.”
And finally, the innovation category covers apps and games that “provide a state-of-the-art experience through novel use of Apple technologies that set them apart in their genre.”
The winners
The list of winners follows. Under each category, the first title is an app and the second title is a game.
In addition to prestige, winners receive a physical award and a promotion in the App Store.
