Want to go to Apple co-founder Steve “Woz” Wozniak’s 70th birthday party? Of course you do — and, thanks to Woz’s wife Janet Hill, you can.
To celebrate her famous husband’s landmark birthday this Tuesday, Hill is throwing Woz a massive online birthday bash, and you can tune in to watch it streaming live at 5 p.m. Pacific time on Wozbday.com and Twitch.tv/inspirehouse. Oh, and there’s a typically Woz-style event you can participate in as well.
Woz’s 70th birthday bash
The live-streamed birthday event is being held as a benefit for singer Jewel’s Inspiring Children Foundation, which Woz has cited as his favorite charity. On its website, it describes what it does as helping young people discover the confidence that comes from self-sufficiency and right choices through “mental health, mentoring, project-driven learning, sports” and more.
Woz’s 70th birthday event will feature a number of virtual guests performing. These include opera singer Andrea Boccelli, country singers Brad Paisley and Emmylou Harris, actors William Shatner and Ashton Kutcher (who played Steve Jobs in a biopic), comedians Chris Rock, Jay Leno and Drew Carey, magician Penn Jillette, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, and host Jewel.
Woz loves to have fun
This isn’t the first time Woz has promoted an amazing, star-studded musical and entertainment extravaganza. In the 1980s, he staged two US Festivals, which brought together massive musical acts for multiday celebrations. (Those events didn’t exactly go entirely according to plan.)
What’s even more in keeping with Woz’s fun-loving ethos is an “11 days of Wozdom” scavenger hunt that will kick off the day after his birthday this year. This scavenger hunt will reportedly involve “featuring creative challenges” for prizes including autographed Apple items, signed by Woz.
