As it always does prior to a new keynote event, Apple has updated its Apple Events app for Apple TV. If you want to watch the October 30 New York media event from the extreme comfort of your couch, Siri remote in hand, this is the best way to do it.

The update comes with a wallpaper reminding users when the event kicks off (10am Eastern/7am Pacific, which makes it three hours earlier than normal). The background is now purple, and features logo artwork taken from one of the 350+ logo redesigns that Apple created for the event.

An accompanying line doesn’t give anything away about the contents of the event, aside from saying, “Watch the special event — live from Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York.”

What we’re expecting from this event

Despite Apple not spilling the beans, however, it’s no mystery that the October event will introduce new iPads. Specifically, we’re expected redesigned versions of the iPad Pro, likely featuring a design language similar to the iPhone X/XS series of handsets.

That almost certainly means Face ID, and there have even been rumors that this could become the first iOS device with a USB-C port.

On the Mac front, we’re expecting a new MacBook Air, refreshed iMac models, and — after four years of waiting — a more powerful Mac mini desktop.

Don’t worry if you haven’t got an Apple TV, though. As usual, Apple will also be live streaming the event online, while Cult of Mac is ready for its customary play-by-play.
