Close your eyes and hold your noses because stink bombs are coming soon to Fortnite: Battle Royale.

The new throwable, which will damage opponent players who get caught up in its cloud, will be added in this week’s content update. Epic has already introduced the new Omen outfit and Oracle pickaxe, which can be found in the shop now.

Long-time Battle Royale players will know that the game once had smoke grenades, but few people bothered using them, so Epic threw them into the vault. Stink bombs will be much better.

What’s that smell in Battle Royale?

Epic’s teaser, which you’ll see in the update log when opening Fortnite today, explains that the stink bomb “explodes into a cloud on impact and slowly damages anyone inside.”

It’s unclear how thick that cloud will be and whether or not it will impair the vision of those around it. But the fact that it deals damage, unlike the old smoke grenade, makes it much more useful in Battle Royale games.

The stink bomb will help force opponents out of buildings and bases, where some players tend to camp out during the endgame. It’s only the third grenade, after the standard hand grenade and the Clinger, that deals damage.

Beware the Omen

While you’re waiting for Fortnite’s next content update to drop, you can enjoy the new Omen outfit and Oracle pickaxe. Both are available in the item shop now, priced at 2,000 and 1,200 V-Bucks, respectively.
