Fortnite Battle Royale could get a new assault rifle in an upcoming content update.

A “Bullpup Burst” has been uncovered in the game’s data files following its most recent release. The gun deals more damage than the regular three-burst assault rifle, and could be available in epic and legendary varieties.

Week three challenges for season four have also been leaked.

Epic likes to add new weapons to Fortnite on a regular basis to give players something new to enjoy and keep the game feeling fresh. Some of those weapons, like the hand cannon, remain in the game, while others, like the guided missile, go into the vault after a while.

The last weapons added to Battle Royale were the light machine gun (LMG) and the clinger grenade — both of which remain available today. But Epic could be about to make room for another.

Bullpup Burst on its way to Fortnite Battle Royale

The Bullpup Burst, an assault rifle already available in Fortnite’s Save the World game mode, has had its stats updated to accomodate Battle Royale. The change suggests the gun could extend into the more popular game mode in an upcoming content update.

Here are those stats, which were discovered by Fortnite Tracker:

Epic

  • Damage: 32
  • Headshot damage: 64

Legendary

  • Damage: 33
  • Headshot damage: 66

This makes the Bullpup Burst more powerful than the best three-burst assault rifle, which deals 30 damage to the body and 60 to the head. But it’s not quite as powerful as the coveted SCAR, the weakest of which does 35 damage to the body and 70 to the head.

The Bullpup Burst resembles the G36C, an assault rifle designed in the early 1990s by Heckler & Koch, which has already featured in other popular video games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Grand Theft Auto V, and Rainbow Six: Siege.

Week 3 challenges revealed

The updates stats don’t confirm that the Bullpup Burst will make its way into Battle Royale, but it certainly looks promising. Other data uncovered by Fortnite Tracker reveals the week three challenges for those who have purchased the season four Battle Pass.

They include:

  • Watch a match replay (5 stars)
  • Deal 500 damage with pistols to opponents (5 stars)
  • Search seven chests in Lonely Lodge (5 stars)
  • Search 10 rubber duckies (5 stars)
  • Follow the treasure map found in Salty Springs (10 stars)
  • Earn two sniper rifle eliminations (10 stars)
  • Eliminate three opponents in Tilted Towers (10 stars)

These challenges will be available tomorrow, May 15.
