Isn’t it frustrating when you need to reply to an instant message from a friend, but you don’t want to leave the app you’re already in and lose what you’re working on? With QuickIM, a new tweak for jailbroken iPhones, you can quickly respond to messages on Facebook and Google Chat without switching apps.
QuickIM looks just like a regular instant messaging app; it even uses the same chat bubbles you’ll find in the built-in Messages app. The difference is, when you use it, it doesn’t pull you out of the app you’re already in. Think of this as the quick reply feature built into BiteSMS, only in fullscreen.
The guys over at iDownloadBlog show QuickIM in action:
For me, this makes QuickIM an awesome tweak. But as noted by iDB, it does have one downfall: rather than taking you to Google’s web app for Google Chat authorization, the tweak asks you to enter your details into the app itself. It could be that this won’t be a problem at all, but it’s something to bear in mind if you’re security conscious.
Facebook login does use the web app, however, so there’s nothing to worry about there.
You can find QuickIM in Cydia now.
