Facebook To Launch iPad App And iOS 5 Integration At Next Week’s iPhone Event [Report]

That Facebook engineer who quit for Google after his bosses refused to release his feature-complete app? Turns out they might have been holding it back for a reason: Apple’s going to feature it at next week’s iPhone event, and they’ll show off new Facebook iOS 5 integration alongside it, just like Apple’s already rolled out in the iOS 5 betas for Twitter.

Looks awesome, and very compelling. These could be fake, but I sure hope not. If Facebook has just been waiting for Apple to announce the iPhone 5 with Facebook iOS 5 integration before they roll out the native iPad app, everything suddenly makes sense. Let’s hope this is true.

    Makes some sense.

  2. Ra-tard says:

Hope it’s true. I use FB a lot more than Twitter. But [sigh] I’ll prolly succumb at some point. Never thought I’d have a FB account either.

    let’s hope not

  4. Barton Lynch says:

pleeeease!!! i want that so bad, i don’t care about twitter but facebook integration would be amazing

  5. LotaMan says:

Oh its a fake all right. Look closer in the first screenshot and you’ll notice that the word “addresses” has been spelt wrong. Its a freaking mockup.

  6. Cold_dead_fingers says:

I’d rather have Facebook integration than Twitter. I had to create a twitter just so I can use that feature in iOS 5.

my best friend’s mom makes $77 an hour on the computer. she has been out of job for 9 months but last month her check was $7487 just working on the computer for a few hours. read about it and get started following the first step “Online Income Solution” , here http://flaturl.com/e3

I hope so. I really could care less about Twitter, but I’ve been waiting for Facebook.

  9. minimalist1969 says:

I have no use for Twitter.   Like it or not, Facebook is where all my friends and family are at.  System wide iOS integration would be really handy.

  10. Brian says:

Yep, was too good to be true.

  11. Mike Winters says:

Yep.  You’re right.  Complete fake.  I think that CoM was right the first time in stating that Zuckerburg believes that there is no use for a iPad native app.  I also think that as a result of the Ping-Facebook fallout, there won’t be any FB integration on iOS for quite some time.

  12. Cold_dead_fingers says:

Like it or not Facebook is something Apple’s users want. It makes complete sense to integrate Facebook into iOS. Now, things like flash can be left out for it’s legitimate security flaws and general lack of support for other historical Apple devices. Having said that, Facebook is relevant and would probably be appreciated more than speech to text by most users.

  13. TeeJay1100 says:

Noone cares, Google + is taking over!! Facebook sucks. It’s to cluttered and they just copied off Google + with their latest updated lists.

  14. Bobby Scruggs says:

honestly i was so disappointed to hear that it was twitter integrated…i hate twitter.  But Facebook?  that sounds more useful and fun

  15. baby_Twitty says:

No fucking way. Even if this is true, i would still not activate the fb service on my iPhone.
I JUST DON’T TRUST Mark Zuckerberg.

Facebook will become one of Apple’s direct competitor, there is JUST NO WAY that apple would integrate fb directly into any of their products to help promote fb. End of.

  16. Daniel Nicholls says:

It is? Last I checked, G+ was a good looking but empty service. Facebook doesn’t look as nice but it’s where the users are. Content is king.

  17. Daniel Nicholls says:

To be fair, it wouldn’t be the first typo in a beta.

  18. Matt8823 says:

I guess your fake too because it should be spelled and not spelt. Spelt is an old type of wheat it isn’t a from of spell. But I hope these screenshots are real because I don’t use twitter, so Facebook integration would be great.

  19. jacklahaie says:

Alas, it’s true. I really enjoy Google+, but I could only five 8 of my friends on there. It’s hard to have a social network when there aren’t any people.

  20. jacklahaie says:

    Make that “only find”

  21. jacklahaie says:

I think it looks promising until I remember that Steve Jobs quote about Zuckerburg being an asshole, but we’ll see.

  22. Thomas says:

This is absolutely not happening people. Total fake.

  23. Thomas says:

Google+ may take over in the long run, but for now it’s completely dead. Even after opening up to the public, it laos the vibrancy that Facebook currently enjoys.

  24. Geoff says:

Speak for yourself, cheeselog.  I care!

  25. Thomas says:

Don’t really want to say “I told you so” but…

  26. MOSES OKAFOR says:

THE SCREWED UP WHEN THEY CHOSE NOT TO INTEGRATE FACEBOOK INTO IOS5
