Yet another iPhone 7 Plus mockup has been captured on video ahead of Apple’s official unveiling this fall, but this one’s a little more exciting than most.
Not only is it thought to be the most accurate representation of the iPhone 7 Plus we’ve seen so far, but it also comes in a new blue finish that could replace the space gray option in Apple’s next-generation iPhone lineup.
According to an earlier report from Japanese blog Macotakara, a “deep blue” color option will join the existing gold, rose gold and silver variants in the iPhone 7 lineup this September — but the familiar space gray model could be dropped.
The mockup showcased in the video below from Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy doesn’t really look like a deep blue, but it’s certainly very pretty.
“This thing has this kind of blue-ish, purple-ish tone to it,” describes Hilsenteger. It’s “a very unusual color for Apple; it doesn’t exist anywhere else in the product line. Personally I think it would be very cool to see an iPhone in this shade.”
The mockup also provides us with a closer look at some of the design changes Apple is expected to make with the iPhone 7 Plus, including that dual-lens camera we’re all excited about. Despite a smoother camera hump, it actually sticks out more than it did on previous iPhones.
The redesigned antenna bands make up for that — and make the iPhone 7 Plus a lot prettier than the iPhone 6s Plus from the back — and there is a Smart Connector towards the bottom edge of the device. It’s still unclear whether this will make it into the final iPhone, however.
The iPhone 7 Plus mockup featured in this video is ever so slightly thinner than the iPhone 6s Plus, but because it’s just a mockup, it’s probably best we don’t read too much into that. It’s also missing its headphone jack, which is a change we’re all expecting by now.
