Dead body found at Apple HQ prompts investigation

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office is reportedly investigating a dead body that was found at Apple’s headquarters this morning in one of the company’s conference rooms.

Details on the investigation are limited at this time and it is not known if the death is suspicious or if it resulted from natural causes.

Local news reports from Cupertino claim that law enforcement is currently conducting an investigation at Apple HQ. The company has not released any information on the death yet, and it remains unclear if the person found dead was an Apple employee.

KTVU reporter Maureen Naylor has tweeted that a representative of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office could not confirm the death yet. However, pictures from Apple HQ show that deputies are at the scene.

Update: TMZ reports that a body was found with a head wound and a gun nearby. A female employee was escorted out by security.

Here’s the full transcript of police scanner chatter about the incident:

“…at Apple campus Infinite Loop, for a 1056 attempt … Female employee bleeding with a head wound to the head … possibly has a gun. Her … looks like security was escorting the employee down and the Westside units are just now arriving … I do have further … They are advising that there’s a body in one of the conference rooms with a gun so we’re not really sure if there’s multiple people involved.”

Update 2: The person found dead at Apple HQ was a man. No details yet on how the woman mentioned in the police scanner audio was involved.

Update 3: Police were alerted at 8:35 a.m., according to the The Mercury News, which claims a male body with a head wound was found.

Update 4: The sheriff’s office has confirmed that the person found dead in the conference room was an Apple employee. No other people were involved.
