This weekend is WrestleMania and, even as a kind of lapsed fan, I still can’t help but be excited about the prospect of Daniel Bryan, Brock Lesnar, Antonio Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler and pals plying their trade on the grandest stage of ’em all.
Which, of course, makes this the perfect time for Warner Bros. Interactive and WWE to update its WWE Immortals card-based fighting game for iOS — adding the characters “Macho Man” Randy Savage and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, plus an all-new Events System, to what was already a fun gaming experience.
Savage and Austin are available in two variants, including “Renegade” and “Macho King” versions of Savage, and “Icebound Watcher” and “Texas Rattlesnake” versions of Austin. Meanwhile, the new Events System lets players interact with both the game and each other in new ways. Until April 2, the Event will take over the WWE Immortals main screen and Online Battle screens — giving players who place in the Leaderboard the chance to win exclusive WrestleMania-related goodies.
You can download WWE Immortals here.
As one other sidenote, grunt-and-grapple fans who haven’t already seen it should make sure to check out Max Landis’ fantastic “Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling” short film, featuring all manner of superb cameos.
If the two of these between them aren’t enough to get you in the mood for WrestleMania, well, I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe fake sports-turned-male-soap-operas just aren’t for you.
