The Apple Watch’s Force Touch technology and rose gold finish might not stay exclusive to the smartwatch for long.
A new report from The Wall Street Journal says that when the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus come around, they’ll have Force Touch screens, and come in pink gold.
Sourcing their report from Apple suppliers, not much will change with the next iPhones screen sixe, which will continue to be available in 4.7- and 5.5-inches, respectively. But it will get Force Touch, which allows iOS to distinguish context from an on-screen tap based upon pressure. In other words, future iPhones will be able to tell a light tap from a long press, just like an Apple Watch.
They’ll also be available in different colors. According to The Journal’s report, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will continue to ship in white, space gray, and gold, but they will also get a pink option. I’m reading this to mean the Apple Watch’s rose gold color, and not an iPhone 5c style pink. (I’m super excited about this: I would totally buy a pink iPhone.)
These aren’t revolutionary predictions, true, but it’s the first time we’ve heard them from an organization of the Wall Street Journal’s repute. Let’s not get too excited, though. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus are still six months away.
