Blackberry “Outraged” That T-Mobile Thinks People Would Be Better Off With iPhones

Do you think Blackberry is dead? So does T-Mobile, which is why they tried to get Blackberry customers on the network to switch over to Apple’s smartphone. But apparently, Blackberry has some life in it yet… or enough, at least, to get pissed off about T-Mobile counting the Canadian smartphone maker out.

In an email promotion, some T-Mobile customers still using Blackberries were offered an unlocked iPhone 5s for just $500, a savings of $150 on the usual retail price. The tagline of the message was simple: “Get the tools to do more.”

Hardly slander, given the health of the iOS app ecosystem, but obviously, Blackberry was pissed. Blackberry CEO John Chen took to the company’s blog, saying that they were “outraged” by the promotion, but the message they sent was pretty bleak.

Finally, to T-Mobile, I would like to remind you that our long-standing partnership was once productive and profitable for both BlackBerry and T-Mobile. I hope we can find a way forward that allows us to serve our shared customers once again. Notwithstanding the current challenge, we remain very excited about BlackBerry’s future.

So, in other words, Blackberry is admitting that their partnership with T-Mobile is no longer productive or profitable. Not sure what you have to be “outraged” by in that situation, champ.

According to T-Mobile CEO John Legere, the carrier has no plans to abandon Blackberry users. But considering even Blackberry admits that the partnership is not productive or profitable anymore, god knows why.
