Griffin’s Survivor+Catalyst Is A Waterproof Case With Rugged Good Looks [CES 2013]

CES 2013 bug LAS VEGAS, CES 2013 – Griffin’s Survivor+Catalyst might have a goofy name, but it’s the first ruggedized waterproof case I’ve seen which isn’t hugely oversized or just plain fugly. In fact, it might be slim and stylish enough for everyday use.

My brother has an iPhone 4, but you’d never know it. You see, he also has about a million kids, and his phone is therefore swaddled deep inside some fat, rubbery case to keep it safe from his marauding ginger horde. The Survivor+Catalyst, by contrast, clearly shows the iPhone within, and allows easy access to all buttons and ports whilst remaining completely waterproof (there’s a little sealed flap you need to open to charge it).

The case is polycarbonate, with nylon clamps and a silicone o-ring seal, and still measures just a half-inch thick. You can drop it six feet and dunk it down to ten and the iPhone inside won’t even know. And dust in your headphone-hole will be a distant memory.

All this for just $80, and you can even pick the candy color of your choice.
