Apple has spoken out regarding the rumor that French designer Philippe Starck is working with the company on a “revolutionary” product to be released in the next 8 months. Starck and Apple are working on no such thing, according to a spokesperson from Cupertino. In the interview that caused the original rumor, Strack was instead referring to a yacht he was working on with the late Steve Jobs.

AllThingsD reports:

Reached for comment, an Apple spokeswoman said the company is not working on a new product with Starck. And while she declined to speculate about what the designer might have been referring to when he told France Info Radio that he and Apple “have a big project together that will be out in eight months,” there’s a good explanation for the remark.

Our own Leander Kahney reported last October that Steve Jobs was designed his own yacht, and Starck was working with Jobs on the project. That’s likely why Starck said he has continued to meet with Jobs’ widow Laurene. He’s been working on the family boat.
