Tyler Marsh has a setup that would make even Marie Kondo proud. He has nothing on his desk besides a couple of family photos and a scented candle, which both spark joy.
The linchpin of Marsh’s rig is an LG 34-inch UltraWide Curved Monitor. It’s the only thing in the setup that isn’t minimalist. He uses the massive screen to run a 2017 MacBook Pro for personal use. He also has a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 14-inch Business Laptop as his work machine.
His UltraWide is clamped to his Ikea desk by a Vivo Vertical Desk Stand. A mStand by Rain Design and a MOSISO Vertical Laptop Stand keep both his laptops elevated and “keep the desk clean and minimal while providing options for functionality,” he said.
For peripherals, Marsh rocks a Logitech MX Master 3, one of the most efficient and intuitive mice on the planet. He pairs it with an Apple Magic Keyboard (with Numerical Trackpad). The Magic Keyboard does give him a bit of a headache since it lacks multi-input support so he has to reconnect via Bluetooth every time he switches computers. And he would prefer if it were backlit for easier visibility in low-light settings.
He uses a Nomad Base Station Stand to charge his phone. He realizes that it is expensive but he splurged anyways since “the quality is second to none.”
Marsh is able keep his desk so clean by exercising good cable management. The UltraWide’s USB interface allows him to use only one cord between machines.
