MacBook Pro Setup
All it takes to build a nice setup is a MacBook and an UltraWide.

Programmer Dylan Garrett used to have a dual monitor rig, until he became enlightened in the ways of the UltraWide. Although the extra screen space that comes with having two monitors was an obvious plus, their resolutions were terrible and he decided to throw them both in the trash and adopt the LG 34-inch UltraWide as his sole monitor.

Having just the UltraWide reduces the amount of cable management needed while giving Garrett’s desk a minimalist aesthetic. It is also hard to beat the LG UltraWide. It is his favorite part of the setup and it is easy to see why. He powers it with a 2019 MacBook Pro.

The Irish coder uses both the LG MX Master Mouse and Keyboard. The MX Master Mouse has tons of features, making it great for everyday use.

For audio he does not have any exterior speakers. Instead he either uses the built-in UltraWide speakers or uses a pair of Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones. Forgoing exterior speakers is becoming an increasingly popular trend. With the rise of noise-cancelling headphones, it does not make sense any more to spend another $100 for a pair of mid-market speakers.

His monitor rests on a 1home Wood Monitor Stand. It gives the UltraWide a fitting podium and he can store things underneath. For his MacBook, he stashes it in an Omoton Vertical Laptop Stand.
