The mystery object in Monday’s contest is an Apple IIC. This time, we weren’t even trying to make it especially hard, but kudos to everyone who noticed that it was a European version.

We picked it out of the line-up of fabulous Apple products from yesteryear from Paolo Tonon’s flickrstream. Paolo took the shot of it and others, including a Macintosh Portable and Newtons, from an Italian retrocomputing group.

Winner named after the jump.

The winner, chosen randomly from the correct entries, is Sarah.

Sarah gets her pick of the Apple-iscious tees from might tees, pictured above.

Thanks to readers who shared their stories, it seemed to be a first computer for a lot of you:

It’s an apple IIc, the first Apple I ever owned.  The 40/80 switch told the monitor how many characters to display across the screen.  And the little bar next to the (5 1/4″ !) floppy icon showed disc activity.  Ahhh, memories…– Tony

Bought one in the US and took it home to the UK in carry-on baggage (with a 128Kb Mac in the other carry-on bag!) — Stuart

It’s a mac IIc. Still have my receipt… $2900 for the IIci with a Maxtor 210 MB Hard Drive and 4MB of RAM ! Still have the invoice. — Harry

It was my first Apple, after a string of Commodores. It went away when I got my first Mac, a 512E. Sigh…Mark

This is the last week of the mystery-t-shirt giveaway.

Thanks for playing!
