Tech site H-Online has an interesting story today, quoting security expert Charlie Miller about his forthcoming talk at the CanSecWest conference next week.
He says OS X is full of security holes. There are lots more than in Windows, he claims.
And yet: OS X is a safer system to use. Why? Because, in the words [...]

Apple Devotes Entire Home Page To Jerome York Obituary

20100318-york.jpg

If ever you needed a sign that Apple was a different kind of technology company, this is it.
What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?
This is one of those “Here’s to the [...]

How To Post To Blogger From Your iPhone

This video from the Blogger team at Google isn’t new, but it did teach me a few things I didn’t know before. Sending stuff to a Blogger account from your iPhone is very simple, even if you don’t already have a Blogger account.

First, that Blogger allows anyone to create a blog instantly via email (or SMS message) by simply sending a first post to go@blogger.com (or to 256447 for US SMS messages). Just like the widely-admired Posterous service, there’s no need to sign up for anything in advance.

Second, and this is the clever bit, is that you can upload content to Blogger.com this way and then when you claim the post from your desktop computer, you can associate that content with any *existing* blog you have.

I know Blogger isn’t fashionable as a blogging platform these days, but I’m rather fond of its simplicity and ease of use. Evan Williams was right about those templates, though. Come on, guys: new templates? Much to ask?

Thanks for mentioning Posterous in this post. I tried out the mobile blogger stuff right now (and I did last year when we were starting Posterous). I got the response “Your carrier is not supported by Blogger Mobile.”

For Posterous, posting by email is not an afterthought, but it’s the focus of our product. You can use any carrier, on any device, and attach anything at all. We allow multiple photos, video, audio and full html.

Posterous works great for Mac users who are using iPhoto with Mail since you can select a bunch of photos, click “Email” and click “send”. Done.

And we also do something called “Autopost” which means when you post with us, we’ll also update your twitter, flickr, blogger, and other sites. So we’re actually a more powerful way to email *to blogger* than blogger mobile.

I’ve been a reader of this site for a while now. I love it! Thanks.

This looks insane! Who would ever mobile blog this way? I’m surprised Google/Blogger even made the video. I am Blogger user and have been eager for a reliable easy way to mobile blog from the iPhone, but so far the blogging apps in the AppStore don’t work well with Blogger. Blogger should just design their own app already.
