Mean Girls Attack Teen for iPod

The neighborhood where the attack took place

The Salem, Ore. neighborhood where the attack took place (see link below).

A teen landed in the hospital with cuts, a black eye and broken vertebrae after being attacked by a trio of girls for her iPod.

In Salem, Oregon at about 6:30 pm in a neighborhood described as “quiet,” police said the victim was walking home from school, listening to her iPod when three girls confronted her and demanded she hand over her MP3 player.

She refused, then the trio attacked her and ran, police said. She was taken to a local hospital where doctors found that she had a fractured vertebra.

Police are still trying to find attackers they described as a white girl with shoulder-length brown hair and two Hispanic girls with dark brown hair.

Sounds like it’s time for a witch trial!

I love how meaningless pictures are meant to ‘enhance’ a story. That shot can be one of any one of 200 million suburban US homes and we would never know. So why include it at all? Because we like pictures….

    Dann:
The pic is a screenshot from the TV story shot in the neighborhood where the attack happened, as per the caption, which probably could’ve been clearer.

If you follow the link to the TV station, you can watch the story shot in Salem with vox pops from the neighbors etc…

It’s always debatable whether to add a pic of any kind to a hard news story like this, maybe in this case it would’ve been better to leave it out…

Dude, Salem is so ghetto in a pointless suburban sort of way, I grew up in the countryside outside Salem and this story is not surprising at all. Its citizens are bored and desperate. At a measly 45 miles north, Portland is a much friendlier city.
