Apple announced its newest lineup of iPads last week without giving a specific launch date, but if you didn’t get in on the pre-order action you can just go to your local Apple Store and pick up a new unit starting today.

Pre-orders deliveries for the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 began earlier today, but Apple retail staff has informed Cult of Mac that stores should receive their first shipments this afternoon, even though most Apple Stores are still waiting for their display units.

Apple’s website shows that many Apple Stores now have both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 available as a personal pickup option. Stores on the East Coast appear to have more units available right now, as many stores in the West are still waiting for their daily UPS delivery.

One Apple specialist in Phoenix told Cult of Mac to “stick around for a few more hours” and they’d probably have a few units, however, retail employees haven’t been informed whether they will get the new iPads today, and if so, how many.

The first reviews of the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 hit the internet yesterday, with many reviewers claiming the iPad Air 2 is now the best tablet on the market, despite the modest upgrades it received. The iPad mini 3 hasn’t faired quite as well, as it only received Touch ID and a coat of gold paint for upgrades.
