There’s a lot of similarity between the Ecoxgear Ecorox Bluetooth speaker/speakerphone and the Navy SEALs. They’re both rugged, packed with stamina and waterproof. Oh yeah, and they both come from aqua-crazy San Diego.
Ruggedness? Ecoxgear says the speakers’ rubberized armor can handle “drops and everyday abuse” — making it perfect for not only SEALs, but also the clumsy and/or constantly inebriated beach bunny or cabana boy (or, yes, even the deck of a kayak).
Ecoxgear says the speaker’s li-on battery lasts about ten hours; if that holds water it makes the Ecorox one of the long-lasting battery-powered speakers.
Other cool features: a carabiner clip for attaching it to stuff (or you), and a screw mount which fits any common photo tripod. And the Ecorox is equipped with a waterproof microphone, making it also an adverse-condition speakerphone.
You’ll pay a little more for the extra features and anti-soggy magic — the Ecorox is $130.
