Google Glass is probably one of the most interesting pieces of technology you’ll see this year, so it’s no wonder people are scrambling to get their hands on a pair. Unfortunately, it seems Google’s in little rush to get them out the door, but you don’t necessarily have to wait for them to hit Best Buy before you can buy your own.
All you need is an eBay account and a hoard of cash you have no use for.
That’s right — Google Glass has already hit eBay, and it’s currently selling for just over $90,000 after 28 bids. The auction still has three days left to run, however, so there’s a good chance that price tag will get much bigger between now and then — if Google doesn’t have the listing pulled, of course.
It’s safe to say one lucky so and so is going to make a small fortune on Google Glass, then.
The listing’s description is incredibly short, but clearly Google Glass can sell itself. “I was selected to try Google Glass,” user raenblow writes. “I was contacted via twitter and can send a screen shot. I will get details in a few weeks to pick them up!”
I’m not sure how I’d feel about spending $90,000+ on a screenshot; I’d probably be very nervous about the whole thing until my Google Glass actually arrived on my doorstep. Not that I have that kind of money to spend on a pair of glasses anyway. But this listing proves that there’s a demand for this device, no matter how silly it makes you look.
If people are willing to spend $90,000 on Google Glass just to get it early, Google clearly has a winner on its hands. Or its face.
