macworldbugSAN FRANCISCO, MACWORLD/iWORLD 2013 – I’m not exaggerating — these headphones I found exhibiting at Macworld are just about the best iPod headphones I’ve heard. Full bass, beautiful high-end, loud, little incoming leakage from the outside world, really comfy and adjustable and look great in several bright color options. They are really well made. And the price! Guess how much they are?

The GoGo Tech roadshow at Macworld.

A little confusingly, Tech&Go and GoGoTech are both the trading names of this California startup I found showing their wares at Macworld. Been operating for about one year, their straightforward aim, Strategic Brands Manager Steven Torr tells me, is to provide great quality and value. They’ve succeeded admirably. They provide a range of headphones, earbuds, charger bricks, cute animal flash drives, iPad styluses and carry cases in a spectrum of recurring Dayglo colors to mix and match. Available from several e-tailers and national retailers including Walgreens, the origin of the two trade names is obscure but in Walgreens they sell as GoGo Tech and elsewhere as Tech&Go products.

And the prices. The headphones pictured are $10. Everything else is less. Some items are 50 cents. But I wouldn’t be excited so much about cheap electronics products if they weren’t so amazingly good as well. I’ve reviewed tons of headphones and these are among the best, sound-wise, ergonomics-wise — at a fraction of the cost of most of the stuff out there.

Sensing there must be a catch somewhere, I asked Steven how long would that headphone cable last before it snapped and I had to chuck the thing away. But no, the company has had a less than 1 percent faulty item returns rate so far. So the products are at least built to last — how many other company’s products can you say that about?

The adjustable DJ-style headphones have 3.5ft cable, standard 3.5mm stereo plug, 40mm drivers and frequency response 20Hz – 20kHz. Available online and at Walgreens, priced $10.

Mix’n’match — the products come in uniform shades of bright pink, orange, green, blue and white.
