Review: Knomo’s Bristol Laptop Bag (From The UK) Is Bloody Brilliant!!

For the ultimate wow factor, bring the Knomo Bristol laptop bag to your next meeting or job interview. This well-made leather laptop bag is the ultimate accessory for white-collar workers.

The Bristol looks professional and so will you. Sold at Apple’s retail stores, this $150.00 bag is from Knomo, a posh new company from the West End of London.

Founded in 2004,  Knomo’s mission is to make accesories that are as stylish as they are functional. With the Bristol bag they’ve outdone themselves.

Built to Last
I’ve reviewed many MacBook bags. Most of them were good but the Knomo Bristol is great! The Knomo Bristol, like a high fashion super model, demands attention.

The Bristol is well put together from genuine leather from top tanneries around the world and durable nylon twill. Since London is famous for it’s crap weather, both are treated with special coatings to resist water and stains. Knomo bags are so well constructed they offer a two year guarantee against damages.

Compelling Features
The Bristol is available online and from Apple’s stores — in black only (the brown model has been discontinued).

It has three generous storage compartments inside its flap. One protects your 15’ MacBook with high-density, shock-resistant foam. A second stores your papers or files and has two small pockets perfect for the battery-charger and an iPod. The third (smaller and zippered) safeguards your wallet or phone and has pockets for a pen and business cards. A compartment on the outside is designed for storing those easily-accessed items like your phone and water bottle.

The well-made strap supported by super strong buckles sits securely on your shoulder. A sturdy grab handle is offered, which tucks away when not needed. I wouldn’t carry the bag around with the handle but works just fine for moving from place to place.

DON'T MISS
Review: Hellolulu Laptop Messenger Bag (Verdict: The Ultimate Laptop Bag)

The inside of both the flap and bag is lined with a soft, baby blue fabric. The lining is so soft, you’ll find yourself stroking it. The front leather flap is secured shut by magnets in each corner. This is my absolutely favorite part — the Bristol is 100% velcro free.

Unique to Knomo is a bag-tracking feature. Stitched on the front flap is a permanent tag, which features a unique ID code and a phone number to call if the bag is lost. Of course, you must remember to register your details online upon receiving your bag. Great feature to have unless, of course, your bag is stolen.

The Knomo Bristol laptop bag is a super stylish and functional MacBook bag that demands attention — and gets it.

Just a quick question for clarification. You wrote:

“I wouldn’t carry the bag around with the handle but works just fine for moving from place to place.”

Do you mean that you recommend not carrying the bag with the handle or just that you would not because you prefer the strap (but those that would often carry with the handle should be fine)? If it’s the former, could you elaborate a bit as to why not? I do often use handles instead and would appreciate the extra info (straps can leave unsightly wrinkles on the shoulder of a shirt so I usually use handles until mid-day when the shirt is already pretty worn).

    Thanks for the review.

Bag tracking isn’t only on Knomo, my Tumi has it too. A thoughtful feature though that helps make a premium product feel premium.

Would love to see some Laptop bags that are similar in style to this one with the brown leather, but work with a 17 inch macbook pro, it is very difficult to find messenger bags like the look of this one that have the capability to hold a 17 in macbook pro.

I have two Knomo bags got them both at great prices on ebags. The Perez is a great vertical oriented laptop bag for my 15″ MBP and the smaller Brooklyn is going to be perfect for my new iPad! I got them both in waxed brown canvas, super durable and different. The have lots of great details and nice stainless steel pulls and accents.

    Paul,
The handle is only good for moving from place to place. The handle is not on the top of the bag, it is on the side which makes it rather awkward to carry for any length of time.

    Wow!
    Must be another Kahney piece.
Wonderfully comprehensive report on a non-topic.

    Bmouch,

Knomo does make a 17 inch in black. As with the other models brown is discontinued.

Sold, I’ve just ordered now. It’s actually still available in brown on Knomo’s website and the Apple store say they’ll have the brown bag back within 2-3 weeks.
