What's up guys, Stephen Cults of Mac here and in this video we're going to take a look
0:03
at the latest developer release of iOS 11.4 Beta 1 to run through what's new and what
0:08
to expect. Let's get started. iOS 11.4 Beta 1 brings back a slew of features that we've seen in previous betas which were
0:21
later removed. The big one is AirPlay 2 support which allows for multi-room playback and eventually pairing
0:27
up two homepods for stereo audio. The only device that fully supports AirPlay 2 at the moment is the Apple TV 4K and the
0:34
standard 4 with the latest tvOS beta. Once set up you can pair up multiple AirPlay 2 enabled devices for multi-room playback
0:41
and control them through the control centre. I've only got two Apple TVs that support AirPlay 2 so I've only been able to test
0:47
out multi-room on those two but so far it works great. You can see which devices are supported within control centre by tapping on the AirPlay icon
0:54
and the ones with a circle next to them are supported. Tap on the circle for each device you want to play and then the music will play in sync
1:01
throughout your home. Here you can also independently control the volume levels for each device or turn them
1:06
up together with the slider beneath. While AirPlay 2 is only supported by the Apple TV, there are signs that we won't have to
1:12
wait too long for it to come to the homepod. Within the home app, the stereo pairing option is now returned so this is a good sign that
1:19
we're not far away. Apple is teasing us by showing us this option but it won't work until the iOS 11.4 beta
1:25
is available for the homepod. Speaking of the home app though, any Apple TVs on the same network will now show up in
1:31
the home app again as it was removed in a previous beta
1:35
Messages on iCloud is also back. It allows you to sync message app data through iCloud so deleting messages on one device
1:41
will delete them on another iOS and Mac eligible device. Well that's it for this video but if you would like to try iOS 11.4 for yourself, I'll

make sure to leave a link in the description down below to the public beta. Also if you enjoyed this video as always go ahead and hit that like button, subscribe
