hey everyone I'm going to show you how
0:11
you can manage their iCloud storage and
0:13
backups as well as iTunes Wi-Fi sync in
0:16
iOS 5 so being that I cloud and what I
0:21
was thinking were a couple of the big
0:24
features with iOS 5 it's definitely
0:26
something worth looking into so like a
0:29
lot of things in iOS first stuff you're
0:31
going to want to go into settings and
0:34
from here you're going to scroll down
0:36
until you see the iCloud tab now this
0:38
tab is also where you can configure
0:40
iCloud on your device if you haven't yet
0:42
and you can see here I've set it up I
0:44
have all these different settings turn
0:45
on so if i scroll down a little bit more
0:48
i get to this storage and backup tab and
0:51
if I select that I can see my total
0:53
storage which is 5 petabytes and that's
0:54
the standard that you get with iCloud
0:56
and how much is available and if I
0:59
scroll down a little bit more I can turn
1:01
on or off iCloud backup and I can back
1:04
up right now or I could even hit manage
1:08
storage and from here I can see a little
1:11
more detailed information so for example
1:13
how much space documents and data and
1:15
mail are taking up on my ipod as well as
1:19
backups so you can see in this backup
1:21
from 532 p.m. is 1.9 gigabytes and you
1:26
can see how much space each thing takes
1:29
up and in the back up and I can delete
1:32
the backup or I can see how much space
1:35
total I have an iCloud app right at the
1:38
bottom and if I go back one tab I can
1:40
even click on buy more storage and if
1:43
you don't know about this it's pretty
1:44
neat because you can upgrade from the
1:47
free 5 gigabytes storage to 10 gigs 20
1:50
gigs or 50 gigs and those are 20 40 and
1:53
100 hours per year now personally I
1:55
won't really recommend going over 10
1:57
gigs I think five gigs is probably
2:00
enough for almost everybody personally I
2:02
might be able to make use of the 10
2:04
gigabyte package but I think for most
2:06
users 5 gigabytes should be plenty so
2:09
now when I want to back up my iPad in
2:11
this case assume
2:12
when I set up my advice I selected back
2:15
up to iCloud and not back up the
2:17
computer all I really have to do now is
2:19
just hit back up now and it's going to
2:22
back up and it'll estimate the time
2:24
remaining as you can see at the bottom
2:25
so that's all there really is to
2:27
managing iCloud and your backups with
2:30
iOS 5 it's pretty easy and just as a
2:32
side note you can also backup your
2:34
computer and iCloud if you so choose and
2:37
I'll show you that in a couple minutes
2:39
so if I go back out to my main settings
2:41
window and I hit general from here I can
2:44
scroll down until I see itunes Wi-Fi
2:47
sync and it's kind of hidden from plain
2:49
view you have to kind of dig in a couple
2:51
menus to find it but it's right here
2:53
under general and now what you see here
2:56
has been perplexing a lot of people
2:58
apple says this is wireless syncing but
3:02
if you what you can see here it says
3:03
sync with itunes on your computer when
3:05
your ipod touch is plugged into power am
3:07
connected to Wi-Fi now people are saying
3:10
it kind of defeats the purpose of
3:11
wireless syncing so my ipod is connected
3:13
to Wi-Fi and if i plug it in you can see
3:17
that a sink now will become an option
3:19
and i'll be able to use wireless syncing
3:21
but it kind of defeats the purpose and a
3:24
lot of people have been saying this
3:25
because now my ipod is plugged in to my
3:28
computer with itunes open so what's
3:31
really the difference between this and
3:32
the old method of singing well i thought
3:34
this at first too but there's a handy
3:36
thing you can check in itunes that will
3:38
enable your ipod to sync without having
3:40
to be plugged in so once my device is
3:42
plugged in and connected to the computer
3:44
all i have to do is select it in the
3:45
sidebar and here i can see a lot of
3:47
options first off i can change whether i
3:50
want to back up to iCloud or back up to
3:53
this computer so this is where you can
3:55
enable iCloud backups if you haven't
3:57
done that already if you look a little
3:58
bit below that you'll be able to see the
4:00
setting i was talking about all i have
4:02
to do is check sink this ipod over Wi-Fi
4:05
and then click apply in the corner and
4:07
they'll take just a second that's all
4:10
you have to do to configure your device
4:11
to sync without having to be plugged in
4:14
so now you can see that even if i unplug
4:16
my ipod from the wall or the computer
4:20
the sink and I option still remains
4:22
available and i can hit sync now
4:26
it'll start sinking and you'll know that
4:28
your device is syncing with itunes
4:29
because you'll see this little sinking
4:33
animation up i need ur status bar now of
4:36
course you still need to have itunes
4:38
open to do this but at least you don't
4:40
have to be connected to the computer if
4:41
you just leave itunes open you can go
4:43
anywhere in your house and continue
4:45
using your device without having you
4:47
have it plugged in and without having to
4:49
directly interface of iTunes so there
4:51
you go there's how you can manage iCloud
4:53
backups as well as iTunes wireless
4:55
syncing in iOS 5 as always if you have
4:58
anything you'd like to see me do a howl
4:59
