Today I'm going to show you how to add
0:03
your own custom songs to the Apple Music
0:06
app. Maybe you found a live concert
0:09
recording or a soundtrack that isn't on
0:11
Apple Music that you'd still like to
0:13
listen to. All you need to do is
0:15
download your music in AAC, AIFF, MP3,
0:19
or Wave formats. Download them on your
0:23
Mac or your PC running iTunes. And it's
0:26
as simple as selecting all the files,
0:28
which are probably in your downloads
0:30
folder, and dragging them into the music
0:34
If for some weird reason that doesn't
0:36
work, you can also go to the music app
0:38
or iTunes and then go to file, import,
0:42
and then select the music that way.
0:46
Then you'll see it in the recently added
0:48
section. Right click on it, and then
0:50
click get info. And you can add in all
0:53
of the metadata you might want to add,
0:55
like the name of the album, the name of
0:57
the artist, the year it came out, the
1:01
genre, the number of tracks. Click okay
1:05
when you're done. And if you have an
1:07
image you want to use as the album
1:09
artwork, you can go to the artwork tab
1:12
and just drag an image in. Here's a
1:14
picture I happened to take while I was
1:16
at this concert. It's not very good, but
1:20
it represents the concert. I'm going to
1:22
use that as the album artwork, so I just
1:24
drag it in. And there you go. You'll
1:28
also see that the names of the music
1:30
tracks aren't correct. And you can do
1:32
the same thing. Right click on them,
1:34
click get info, and then you can go in
1:36
and add the track title along with the
1:39
track number. It's a little tedious, but
1:42
it could be worth it if you have a
1:43
favorite concert you'd like to listen to
1:47
There are a few downsides. You can't add
1:50
custom music to a shared playlist, only
1:53
music that exists in the Apple Music
1:55
catalog. Custom music also doesn't
1:57
appear in Apple Music replay at the end
2:00
of the year. So, your stats like top
2:02
artist, top album, and top songs for the
2:05
month and year won't be accurate. Now,
2:07
you can technically do this on Spotify
2:10
as well, but the process isn't nearly as
2:13
easy. It's one of the top reasons I stay
2:15
with Apple Music. I'm Dearan Jones with
