Holy Skag Poop! Borderlands 2 Coming To The Mac in Two Weeks

Borderlands 2, one of the most anticipated games to hit consoles and the PC this year is now coming to the Mac. The fact that it’ll be available for download two months after the game saw its main release speaks volumes about the attention the Mac gaming market is beginning to get. More importantly though, it means Mac gamers can get ready to blast their pants off this holiday season.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Hits the Mac Next Week, All Related CoD Games Half-off (Again)

It’s about two years behind the Windows release, but who cares; in just under a week you’ll be able to tell those Zune-loving sods to take their “but Macs can’t game” nonsense and shove it down the barrel of your MP5 — because Call of Duty: Black Ops arrives next Thursday. In the meantime, Aspyr has again made the three other Call of Duty titles temporarily half-off, just to hold you over.

Last Day to Grab the Outstanding Ticket to Ride Pocket iPhone Game for Free [Daily Freebie]

Last Day to Grab the Outstanding Ticket to Ride Pocket iPhone Game for Free [Daily Freebie]

Ticket to Ride Pocket is one of those games whose very existence seems absurd. It’s an iPhone version of an iPad version of an online game that originally gained popularity — massive popularity — as a board game. But the talented people over at Days of Wonder (who publish the entire series) managed, inconceivably, to make a triumph of TTR Pocket through careful execution and attention to detail. And today is your last chance to own it for free, before it heads back up to $2 at midnight.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Coming to the Mac App Store, Existing CoD Titles Half-off

Call of Duty: Black Ops Coming to the Mac App Store, Existing CoD Titles Half-off

For those of you on the verge of being disowned/dumped/fired by parents/girlfriends/bosses who’re tired of your broomstick-toting shenanigans as you jump out from behind a door and yell “TANGO DOWN!” in a misguided attempt to recreate Call of Duty: Black Ops — just tell them you’ll put the broom down this fall.

Aspyr says they’re bringing the highly rated first-person title to the Mac App Store this fall. No word on pricing or exact date yet.

In the meantime, existing CoD Mac titles (like CoD 4: Modern Warfare) are half-off everywhere you can get ‘em; not a bad deal, considering CoD 4 is one of the most expensive games at the App Store. If you do pop for it, the Aspyr team will let you take potshots at them during their Community Multiplayer Event on July 6. Show the love.

SoulCalibur Finally Gets Local Multiplayer Over Bluetooth, Except On iPod Touch

SoulCalibur Finally Gets Local Multiplayer Over Bluetooth, Except On iPod Touch

SoulCalibur finally allows you to compete with friends over Bluetooth.

We were hugely exited for SoulCalibur when the classic fighter made its debut on iOS back January. And while we were very impressed by Namco Bandai’s efforts, like many reviewers, we were disappointed by the lack of any multiplayer modes. After all, that’s what fighting games are all about, right?

Thankfully, Namco has now rectified that with an update that brings local multiplayer over Bluetooth… except for the iPod touch.

Game Center On The Mac Will Finally Bridge Mobile And Desktop Gaming

In case you hadn’t already noticed, Apple announced OS X Mountain Lion earlier today, its latest operating system for the Mac which will make its public debut this summer. Mountain Lion will further increase the iOS influence on Apple’s desktop operating system, with the arrival of features like Notification Center, Messages, and Notes.

But for gamers, undoubtedly the most exiting new feature will be Game Center’s arrival on the Mac. With promises of cross-platform multiplayer and the ability to rack up achievements on both your Mac and iOS devices, this is set to create a new bridge between mobile and desktop gaming that will revolutionize cross-platform play.

The Best iPhone Train Game Just Got Better

The Best iPhone Train Game Just Got Better

A few months ago, Days of Wonder released the $2 iPhone version of their overwhelmingly popular, award-winning board game, Ticket to Ride. Ticket to Ride Pocket amazed everyone by including all the elements of the iPad version in a smaller, tighter, but just as engrossing package — only with one huge hole: While you could play real people around you via a Bluetooth connection, there wasn’t any way to play against people who weren’t in the same room with you. All that changed yesterday, making TTR pocket one of the best board game on the iPhone, right up there with chess and Words with Friends.

The Best Game On The App Store Gets Multiplayer And Survival Modes [Infinity Blade]

The Best Game On The App Store Gets Multiplayer And Survival Modes [Infinity Blade]

Char Entertainment and Epic Games’ Infinity Blade — a game we called “an elegiac app store masterpiece” and one of the best games on the App Store — is getting another beefy, free update on Thursday, and aside from more content, it brings one huge new feature to the game: multiplater deathmatch. Swoon.
