Without a front facing camera, there’s not much an iPhone 3GS can do with FaceTime, even if it could be be enabled… but when has the mere logistics of a hack gotten in the way of the jailbreak community? Here it is: FaceTime on the iPhone 3GS, courtesy of iPhoneIslam.
The app is called FaceIt-3GS and it’s now available on the Cydia app store, allowing iPhone 3GS owners to enable FaceTime in their handset’s settings menu… provided they are on iOS 4.1.
How does FaceIt-3GS work without a front-facing camera? Simple: it uses the rear camera. Having to turn your phone around to see your face sort of defeats the point of FaceTime, of course, so you’ll need an accessory like iSeeU to use FaceTime as it was intended.
