It’s that time of year again! The weeks before a new iPhone launch are always marked by big box retailers trying to clear their stock of the soon-to-be-older models at steep discounts.
Right now, that big box retailer is Walmart, who is discounting the 16GB iPhone 5c to just $0.97, and the 16GB iPhone 5s to $79, with a two-year contract.
What makes this deal interesting is it’s cheaper than even what the default pricing of the iPhone 5s will be after the iPhone 6 drops.
If Apple’s past pricing is anything to go by, when the iPhone 6 is released, Apple will drop the price of the iPhone 5s to $99 with a two-year contract, and the iPhone 5c will become free on contract.
From that perspective, if you want an iPhone 5s instead of the larger iPhone 6, it might be better to buy an iPhone 5s from Walmart for $79.
Best of all, Walmart’s keeping this fire sale going for the next three months, so even after the iPhone 6 drops, you’ll be able to take advantage of these discounts.
If you’re due for a new contract, and don’t mind an older phone, going to Walmart seems like a pretty good option over the next few months.
