200 Million Devices Running iOS 6, Fastest Upgrade Rate of Any Software In History [iPad mini Event]

It was just reported yesterday that over 60% of all iOS web traffic comes from iOS 6. Now we know why.

Tim Cook just dropped the bomb on iOS 6 numbers: 200 million iOS devices are running Apple’s latest mobile OS. That staggering figure means that iOS 6 has the fastest upgrade rate of any software in history. Here are some of the latest numbers from the mouth of Cook himself:

  • 300 billion iMessages have been sent to date, meaning an average of  28,000 iMessages are sent per second.
  • In only several weeks, 70 million Photo Streams have been shared with iOS 6.
  • 700,000 apps are currently in the App Store, including 275, 000 iPad apps.
  • The App Store has seen 35 billion app downloads since its launch in 2008.
  • 125 million documents are now stored in iCloud.
  • Apple has paid $6.5 billion dollars to developers.
  • 100 million iPads have been sold since 2010.
  • 94% of Fortune 500 companies are either testing or deploying iPads for employees.
