Hey what's up guys, Steve from Calls of Mac here and in this video I'm going to be revisiting
0:05
my most popular video to date, 7 awesome Apple Watch tricks by following up with, well, 7
0:11
more Apple Watch tricks. So let's get started. If you're tired of your iPhone blaring at you in the morning, to then fumble about and
0:21
hit the snooze button and fed up of having the distraction before you go to bed, the
0:25
Apple Watch has the answer thanks to nightstand mode. Here's how to use it to help get your sorry butt out of bed in the morning
0:31
First, tap into your Apple Watch's alarm app and set an alarm with a force press to the
0:35
screen, toggle an already existing alarm to on or just ask Siri to do it for you
0:41
Nightstand mode should be enabled by default, but if it's not working, check the settings
0:44
app, then general and nightstand mode to toggle the feature on. Then place your Apple Watch on its side with the digital crown facing up and connect your
0:51
Apple Watch to the charger. If you want to show off your watch face customisation or the screen of one of the games you're
1:00
playing, sure you can take a picture with your iPhone, but an even easier option is
1:04
to take a screenshot. To do so, simultaneously press both the side button and digital crown
1:08
You'll get a flash of white and a little camera shutter sound. Then your screenshot will show up in the photo roll on the iPhone you paired with your watch
1:17
The default calendar view on Apple Watch is a list of upcoming events for the current day
1:21
But what if you want it to look less like a list and more like a calendar on your iPhone or Mac
1:26
Launch the Apple Watch calendar app and when you see a list of events, push a little bit harder for a forced touch on the screen to see your view options
1:32
Tap on day view to see your calendar with the same colours you've set up on your iPhone and or Mac
1:36
You can then swipe up and down the day or swipe left or right to change days
1:40
To get back to list view, force touch on the calendar screen in day view and choose list
1:44
Your view choice will remain on your Apple Watch until you change it yourself
1:49
Messaging is one of the best use cases for Apple Watch. You get a message, you dictate a reply and you get on with your day
1:55
Apple has included several pre-written responses for you to use when you're just too busy to
1:58
dictate a response or just don't want to talk to your Apple Watch
2:02
Though they're pretty awful. Thankfully you can change these canned responses to better reflect your personality and style
2:08
Launch the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and then swipe down to find the messages preferences
2:12
in the app. Once there, tap on the default replies section and you'll see the screen with all the built
2:16
in replies. Tap into the default reply you want to customise and type in a message that makes better sense
2:21
for you. Apple's smartwatch doesn't come with much on board storage but that doesn't mean you're
2:28
screwed when it comes to the Apple Watch music. You can add your own playlists and listen to your favourite tunes using Bluetooth or
2:34
Airplay speakers. To get the songs you want, create a playlist on your iPhone or iTunes then beam it over
2:40
to your Apple Watch. Once your playlist is created, launch the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap music
2:45
and then select sync playlists. Choose the playlist you want to sync and wait for songs to transfer then hit play
2:53
If an app on your Apple Watch crashes, you can force quit it as you can on your Mac
2:57
To force quit a frozen app, hold the power button until the power off screen appears
3:01
Then push and hold the digital crown. The app will then close and when you reopen the app it will open from fresh
3:08
If you're an Apple TV user, you can send your Apple Watch tunes to the big screen as
3:12
I showed you in the previous video but you can also control your Apple TV right from
3:15
your wrist. To do so, click on the settings on your Apple TV, then click on remotes and devices and
3:21
click on the remote app. You should then see your Apple Watch in a list of pairable devices
3:25
Click on it to get to the screen with 4 spaces for a numerical code. On your Apple Watch, click the digital crown to see your apps, then tap the remote app
3:33
Once there, tap add device and enter the 4 digit code you see on your Apple Watch into
3:37
your Apple TV. Once successfully paired through Bluetooth, tap on the Apple TV you want to control and
3:42
treat the little watch screen the same as you would your touch surface on your Siri remote
3:46
Swipe up, down, left or right to move your selection to the big TV and tap on the menu
3:51
button to go back a screen. Tap the play pause button to do just that and tap the little menu icon in the upper
3:56
left to go back to your list of paired devices. Well, that's it for this video
