0:11
hey everyone today I'm going to show you
0:12
how you can get the most out of Mission
0:14
Control in os10 Lion now Mission Control
0:18
unifies spaces as well as expose into
0:21
one kind of conglomerate feature if you
0:24
want to call it and there's a lot of new
0:26
stuff with it and with that new stuff
0:29
there's also a lot of changes so I'm
0:31
going to show you how you can get the
0:32
most out of those changes and if you're
0:34
missing some things or if you weren't
0:36
really happy with the changes in Mission
0:38
Control I'm going to show you how you
0:39
can tweak it so that maybe you'll like
0:40
it more so first of all if you're not
0:43
familiar there's a couple different ways
0:44
to access it um if it's in your dock you
0:47
could obviously click on it there or in
0:49
applications folder um and as you might
0:52
know on the trackpads that Apple has if
0:56
you swipe with three fingers you can get
0:58
to machion control but what what you
1:00
might not know is that if you have a
1:02
Magic Mouse you can also easily access
1:04
Mission Control uh by double tapping on
1:06
the surface with two
1:07
fingers just like so and you can see I'm
1:10
in mission control and this is a really
1:12
handy way to get to it rather than going
1:14
into a folder or clicking on something
1:16
it's just a quick gesture now there's
1:18
also a lot of different settings with
1:19
mission control so if you go into system
1:21
preferences and Mission Control you can
1:24
do a lot of different things and you may
1:26
find it to your benefit to change a
1:28
couple of these things around so by
1:30
default when you go to dashboard now in
1:32
line it looks just like this and it's
1:35
its own separate space but if you like
1:38
the way it wasn't snow leopard you can
1:39
untick this box that says show dashboard
1:42
as a space And now when you access
1:45
dashboard it'll come down just like it
1:47
used to so you can do that as well and
1:50
when you go into Mission
1:52
Control you won't see dashboard as a
1:54
space anymore and you can also rearrange
1:57
spaces based on most recent use uh so
2:01
this can be handy if you recently using
2:03
something your spaces can automatically
2:05
be arranged so you can get back to what
2:07
you working on quicker and then you can
2:09
also have an option where you can switch
2:12
to a space with open windows for an
2:14
application when you switch to
2:17
it and then of course you can customize
2:19
your keyboard shortcuts what I really
2:21
like is hot corners and you can see I
2:24
have two hot Corners set up here and you
2:26
can set up different hot corners for
2:28
every corner of your screen and right
2:30
now for me the bottom right hand corner
2:33
is Mission Control so basically what
2:36
that means is when I have that set up
2:38
when I drag my mouse into the bottom
2:39
right corner Mission Control will pop
2:43
open now if you're looking around in the
2:45
mission control preferences trying to
2:47
add spaces to Mission Control like you
2:50
used to be able to do in spaces it's
2:52
different and you actually do it right
2:55
Within mission control so you can see
2:57
all my spaces and my dashboard here now
3:00
if I bring my mouse over to the right
3:02
you can see the little plus button pop
3:04
up and if I click that it'll add a new
3:07
space so that's pretty neat and I can
3:09
add up to 16 desktop spaces and if you
3:12
have all these spaces open and you don't
3:14
want them anymore you can hover your
3:16
mouse over them and a little XO up here
3:19
and you can delete your spaces right
3:21
from
3:22
there now another thing that Apple
3:24
changed around with mission control is
3:27
the way that desktop wallpapers app app
3:29
to spaces now I've heard about a lot of
3:32
people who find this annoying um
3:34
personally I don't really care but it's
3:37
just a new thing they added where if you
3:39
set your wallpaper for a certain space
3:42
when you go back out your other desktops
3:45
don't have that's that wallpaper applied
3:48
to them now this isn't a bug or anything
3:50
uh it's the way Apple intended it and
3:52
it's to kind of move you from workflow
3:54
to workflow like you have one thing open
3:57
here and you have one thing open here
3:59
and and each desktop is its own space so
4:04
I can set of course maybe I want this
4:06
tone to be gray you can see that each
4:08
desktop has its own space now I prefer
4:11
all of them to have the same space so I
4:13
usually leave it the same uh but of
4:15
course you could change it and you might
4:17
prefer it that way now two other
4:19
gestures I want to show you if you have
4:20
a whole bunch of windows open here and
4:22
they're all sitting open taking up space
4:25
and you go to Mission Control you can
4:27
see how they all look and it's a pretty
4:29
normal thing and of course if you have
4:32
multiple windows open the same thing
4:34
like in Safari for example and you go
4:37
back out to Mission Control you can see
4:39
them all but let's say I don't want to
4:41
have to go out to Mission Control to see
4:44
all my windows like this and in snow
4:47
leopard you had the option where when
4:48
you hold down on the apps tile you could
4:52
see all the open Windows now when you
4:55
hold on an the app style you can click
4:57
show all windows and it'll do the same
4:59
same thing but if you want the easy
5:01
access like snow leopard head there's a
5:03
gesture you can do and for me on the
5:06
Magic Mouse it is double tapping with
5:08
two fingers just like I would access
5:10
mission control but I do it one at my
5:13
mous cursors hovering over the
5:15
application icon so you use the same
5:17
Mission Control gesture but for a
5:20
specific application and you can see the
5:22
windows just for that application and
5:25
then of course for me on the magic most
5:28
I can swipe with two fingers through all
5:31
my spaces and see all my
5:34
desktops and you can do the same on the
5:37
trackpad but with a three finger gesture
5:40
so those are some ways that you can
5:41
maximize your use of Mission Control and
5:44
if you thought there were some features
5:46
missing or perhaps you didn't like it as
5:48
much I hope this cleared up some things
5:50
for you if you have any other Mission
5:52
Control tips feel free to leave them in
5:54
the comments and if there's anything
5:56
that you want to know how to do either
5:59
in Mac OS 10 or iOS send me an email and
6:02
I'll try to do a video how to on it as
6:04
soon as I can so I hope you found this
6:06
video useful and thank you for
