hey everyone this is Michael from cuac
0:06
here and today I'm going to show you how
0:07
you can install ioto for iOS on devices
0:11
that aren't supported so this past week
0:12
when ioto for iOS came out everybody was
0:14
excited about it and you know it was
0:16
such a great app and everything but
0:17
there's a couple different problems
0:19
first of all you couldn't use it on the
0:20
iPad 1 and secondly you couldn't use it
0:23
on the iPod Touch at all no generation
0:25
at all and I found this to be rather
0:28
interesting I own an iPad 1 as well as
0:31
an iPod Touch those are my two main
0:33
devices and I couldn't use iPhoto and I
0:35
thought wow that's that's too bad so I
0:37
was looking around there's actually a
0:38
way that you can kind of work around the
0:40
system and get ioto on both a first
0:43
generation iPad or an iPod touch and
0:45
it's pretty simple so the first thing
0:47
you're going to need is iPhone
0:49
Configuration utility and you can get
0:51
this on support. apple.com I'll have a
0:54
link right below the video so you can
0:55
download this it's a just a small file
0:58
and it's an application for or Os 10
1:01
once you have it you're going to want to
1:01
open it up and here it is iPhone
1:04
Configuration utility if you can't find
1:06
it you can just search for it in the
1:08
spotlight and here it is so what you're
1:10
going to want to do is first well
1:11
obviously you're going to need to have
1:12
downloaded ioto for iOS in the app store
1:16
for
1:16
$4.99 and then you can go up to the
1:19
applications tab right here and click on
1:21
ADD once you click on ADD you're going
1:24
to want to go to your home directory in
1:25
this case Michael steber and then from
1:28
here you're going to want to go to
1:30
music and then iTunes and then iTunes
1:34
media and then mobile applications
1:36
because in the mobile applications
1:37
folder this is where iTunes stores all
1:39
the apps that you have on your iPhone
1:42
iPad iPod Touch when you download them
1:43
so in your mobile applications folder
1:45
you're going to want to find ioto then
1:47
all you have to do from there is hit
1:48
open so once you select ioto it's going
1:51
to show up under your applications list
1:53
and from here I'm going to just plug in
1:55
my iPod Touch that's what I'm going to
1:56
show it to you on today but once again
1:58
this also works on the first generation
2:00
iPad as well and I tried it on there so
2:03
once you plug in your device you can see
2:06
on the side here the device showed up as
2:08
Ms iPod I can click on that and from
2:10
here if you go over to the applications
2:12
tab you're going to see all the
2:13
different applications that you can
2:14
install on your device as well as ones
2:16
that are installed so this will be
2:18
anything under the applications tab that
2:20
I showed you before and anything that's
2:22
already on the device so if we scroll
2:24
down here and you see I photo you can
2:26
see I can hit install and once I hit
2:28
install it's going to freeze up like
2:30
this for probably a minute or two while
2:33
it installs on your device and you're
2:35
not going to see anything happen you you
2:37
probably get a spinning beach ball and
2:39
iPhone Configuration utility is not
2:41
going to respond and once it's finished
2:43
doing this it's going to take you know
2:44
maybe a minute or two on your device
2:46
you're going to see the application show
2:47
up and that's really all there is to it
2:49
so as soon as iPhoto finishes installing
2:51
here I'll take a look at my iPod and
2:53
I'll show you that it actually works and
2:56
how it all ran so now you can see if I
2:58
go over here you'll see see that I photo
3:00
is installed on my device and I can open
3:02
it up right here and it opens just fine
3:04
like you'd expect any other iOS
3:06
application to there's no weird crashing
3:09
there's no real slowdowns either
3:11
although I have to say it is a little
3:12
bit slower than it is on the iPad and
3:15
there's no warnings or anything it works
3:16
just fine like it was always meant to be
3:18
on here so you'll see that I can edit
3:19
photos just like I normally would if I
3:21
go into an album here let's say I want
3:23
to edit this picture I can hit edit and
3:26
everything works just as you'd expect so
3:27
I can go over here like this I can maybe
3:29
apply vintage look to it let's try
3:31
something like that and you know it all
3:34
works then maybe I want to look at some
3:35
of these other tools here uh let's
3:38
change some of the color balances let's
3:40
bring that up a little bit let's make
3:42
just a couple adjustments here and you
3:44
can see how this all works pretty well
3:47
and pretty much how you expect on any
3:49
other device so there you go now I can
3:51
share this
3:52
picture and let's share it to Twitter so
3:55
there you go that's about it and that's
3:56
how I photo works so it's just how you'd
3:59
expect nothing's really different than
4:01
on the iPhone or the iPad so there's how
4:04
to run iPhoto on both the iPod touch as
4:07
well as the first generation iPad
4:09
hopefully this cleared up any
4:10
frustrations you had about not being
4:12
able to run it on your device of course
4:14
if you have anything that you'd like to
4:15
see me do a how to on make sure to send
4:17
me an email I hope you found this video
4:19
useful and thank you for watching
