Hey what's up guys, Stephen Cults of Mac here and today I have got the review for you
0:04
for the new Libertone Zip. So let's get started. So if you've been watching the channel for a while you'd know that I've covered a few
0:12
Libertone speakers in the past including the Loop and also the first generation Zip
0:16
This latest version comes in two sizes, this full size version as well as a mini
0:21
They both have this nice Scandinavian design that will look great with all of your IKEA furniture
0:26
Just as with the original Zip you're able to swap out and change the look of the speaker between a ton of different colours and materials which are sold separately
0:32
On the top of the speaker there's this touch interface which allows you to increase or
0:36
decrease the volume by spinning clockwise or anti-clockwise, skip songs and switch radio
0:41
stations within apps such as Spotify. Thanks to the handy free companion app you're able to use Spotify connect or similar services
0:47
once you've connected the speaker to your WiFi, meaning you don't have to have your phone with you at all times
0:52
Setting up the speaker straight out of the box is super simple thanks to the app where
0:56
you can then also play music via Airplay or Bluetooth. But the real kicker here is the pairing function which they call sound spaces
1:03
It's basically the same way speakers like Sonos work, only here the battery is built
1:07
in allowing you to set up multiple speakers around your home without having wires limit
1:11
where you place them. Or you can even use them as two stereo speakers using one for the left and another for the right
1:17
And from a full charge you'll get around 6 hours of music playing, which is pretty respectable
1:21
but this will change depending on the volume you're playing at. Plus you can charge your iPhone or even Android phone thanks to the USB port on the back
1:30
But what about the sound? I've said it before about LibreTone speakers and it's pretty much the same story here
1:46
It just sounds amazing. There's a good amount of bass for the size of the speaker, great volume and it's still
1:51
rarely clear when on full. In terms of downsides, the only one I really have is that the covers seem a little more
1:56
snug than on the previous version. So it's harder to switch these covers out. Other than that though, I can't recommend these speakers enough
2:02
They look great, they sound great and the sound spaces feature is a really nice extra
