What is going on guys, Stephen Cult of Mac here
0:02
Now if you saw one of my previous videos where I discussed the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X
0:07
trying to help you decide which one to buy and you've settled on the new iPhone X, it's not going to be that easy to get your hands on come launch day, thanks to a ton
0:14
of rumours that there will be limited devices. As pre-orders for the iPhone X start this Friday the 27th, I thought I'd run down
0:20
some tips and tricks I've learnt over the years of running this channel, picking up devices on launch day to try and help you secure an iPhone X as soon as it comes out
0:27
Let's get started. Let's start with if you're planning to buy the iPhone X direct from Apple and outright
0:35
with no carrier plan and my first tip is timing. This may sound like a no brainer but go ahead and check online to see what time the pre-orders
0:42
start in your country. For example, here in the UK they usually start at 8.01am, again this will differ depending
0:48
on which country you're in. Then on top of that, make sure to set some alarms half an hour or so before the pre-orders
0:53
begin so you're wide awake and ready. Secondly, make sure you've got the Apple Store app downloaded
0:58
For the past couple of years I've found it so much easier using the app despite heavy traffic and it tends to be a little bit quicker
1:04
Once downloaded it's also a good idea to sign in and check that your payment and delivery
1:08
details are up to date. I actually missed out on an iPhone 7 plus last year as come pre-order day I hadn't
1:14
updated my new credit card info and by the time I filled it all out and sorted it all
1:18
shipping times had slipped from release day all the way down to 2-3 weeks
1:22
So I actually learned that tip the hard way. So when you're getting ready to pre-order, make sure to have your debit or credit card
1:28
however you're planning to pay for the iPhone X, right next to you so if it does ask for
1:32
any security codes and so on, you've got them there ready to go. Another reason why the app is handy is that it allows you to favourite the products you want
1:40
So if there's a specific iPhone model you want, go ahead and favourite that now. Then come pre-order time you can click on accounts and my favourites and order straight
1:46
from there, saving you valuable seconds from choosing the colour and capacity
1:50
Just because the app works well, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have a backup plan in place
1:54
You can usually have a second device, whether it's a Macbook or an iPad, on the Apple Store website
1:58
If you're planning on ordering from your carrier, there's a few things you should do
2:02
First, make sure you're eligible for an upgrade. This can differ massively depending on the carrier and the country, so just give them
2:07
a quick call and ask. While you're there, make sure your wireless bill has paid up to date
2:11
If not, you may not be able to go ahead with the pre-order until you've settled the bill
2:15
Then on pre-order day, make sure to have your carrier website on 2 different devices and
2:19
keep hitting refresh like you're playing Flappy Bird. If you're planning on getting the iPhone X through Apple's iPhone upgrade program
2:25
you can go ahead now and get pre-approved through the Apple Store app, up until this Thursday
2:29
So go ahead and do it now. Well, that's it for this video
2:33
Using these tips will send you with a much better chance of getting an iPhone X on release day
2:37
Let me know in the comments section down below if you've got a tip that I've not mentioned, I'd love to see them
