In this video, I'm taking a look at the E3 Smart Bluetooth Speaker from a company called GGMM. I’m not going to lie: I had never heard of them either. But it’s got a really nice, compact design and it's got some nifty features to edge in front of the competition.

Hey what's up guys, I'm Steve with Kult of Mac and today I have got something for you
0:04
that is hot off the press. It's only just been announced on Kickstarter a few days ago but I've got it here to review
0:10
for you right now. So let's get started. So this is the E3 Smart WiFi Speaker from a company called GGMM
0:18
I'm not going to lie, I had never heard of them either but it's got a really nice compact
0:22
design and comes in three colours. Pearl white, dark grey and this ice blue you see here
0:27
They're calling this a smart speaker and it's got a few features in there to hold the smart title
0:32
First, it's an alarm slash clock so you can wake up to your favourite pre-defined tracks
0:37
And it's got these little LED lights to indicate the time and doubles as a volume indicator
0:42
which is a nice addition to have on a speaker although you have to set the time using the
0:45
buttons on top. It would have been nice if this was connected to the phone via the app to set the alarm
0:50
and time but nope, you've got to do it the old fashioned way
0:54
So while I'm talking about the clock, it's not the brightest. So when there is a light pointing directly at the clock, it's pretty hard to see
1:01
The E3's main party trick though is that once it's connected to your phone, it can continue
1:06
streaming music from cloud services such as Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn and Tidal even when
1:11
your phone has died or gone outside of the WiFi range as the speaker itself connects
1:15
to your WiFi. Connecting the speaker to your internet is super easy
1:20
Simply turn the speaker on and head over to the E3's free companion app which is available
1:24
at both iOS and Android app stores. Then once the app has detected the speaker, all you do is enter your WiFi password and
1:32
you're done. Once connected, the app turns into a hub of all the supportive music streaming services
1:36
which you can stay connected to. Once your phone is connected to the speaker and it's embedded WiFi audio has picked up
1:42
your streaming service, you can then store up to 6 presets of your favourite playlists
1:47
The audio quality is good but not quite great. When on full volume and on best quality, the app allows you to reduce the quality based
1:53
on your WiFi speeds, there's some distortion here and there. It's not awful and the volume easily fills the room but every now and then on certain
2:01
notes of certain songs, it's just not quite meeting it. That being said, using the speaker on a daily basis, not to blast your songs at full, the
2:09
audio is still very nice. It's clean enough to hear every instrument separately instead of them all blending together
2:15
like on some of the cheaper brand speakers. I mean, this is a pretty small speaker coming in at a pretty darn low price
2:22
It's really clear and has tons of bass thanks to a 3-inch passive radiator
2:26
On top of the streaming capabilities, the E3 can also charge your iPhones and iPads
2:31
as well as any USB device for that matter thanks to the charging port on the back
2:35
There's also the ability to pair it up to other E3 speakers for multi-room playback
2:39
so you can have the same music playing in your living room and kitchen
2:43
Or even use them as surround sound speakers by pairing two speakers up for the left and
2:47
right audio channels. Overall, this is a great speaker with tons of functions for a great price
2:53
For an early bird price of $79, it looks great, sounds pretty great and has got enough about
2:58
it to make it stand out in a sea of Bluetooth speakers. Even after the Kickstarter campaign, when it's at its full price of $150, it's still
3:06
a good speaker for the money. Although if you are interested in this speaker, go and pick it up for the $79 on Kickstarter
3:12
it's a no brainer. Let's be honest here, it's not going to be the boombox that everyone crowds around
3:17
at a party. But it's not meant to be. It's for a bedroom or dining room to add that ambient music and a bit of style to the room
3:25
And it does that perfectly. Well, that's it for this video, but let me know in the comments down below if this speaker
3:30
is something you're going to get behind on Kickstarter. Also, let me know if you've actually ever backed anything on Kickstarter in the past
