Hey what's up guys, Stephen Coulter Mac here and I've now owned the Beats X for just over one month
0:06
So in this video I thought I'd share with you my likes, my dislikes and just my general thoughts after four weeks of use
0:12
So let's get started. So firstly let's talk about comfort. I still think that these are some of the best fitting earbuds I've ever come across
0:24
They create a great seal in my ear. They block out almost all background noise, especially when I'm playing music
0:29
I've got the pre-installed buds on these, but it does come with a few other pairs, which are different sizes to switch them out depending on your ear size
0:36
So you should be able to find one to fit you no problem. I've actually kept the wingtips on, mainly out of laziness, but I find them just as comfortable with them on
0:44
Without the wing tips though, they still have a great fit and will probably be just as secure without them
0:49
As I mentioned, these are super comfortable, so much so that I've actually been using them when going to bed
0:54
So I can't sleep in silence, I need to listen to some sort of music or podcast
0:59
just while I drift off, but my fiance can't stand to listen to anything
1:04
So in that respect, these have been a godsend. They stay in my ears all night
1:09
They don't try to strangle me because there's only one chord going around the back
1:12
They're still comfortable when I lie on my side. They're not digging into my ears at all
1:17
Of course, that's not what they're designed for, but it's one of the many times that I do use them
1:21
When I'm out and about, they're also great. They stay in my ears no problem Unlike the AirPods I don feel self when wearing them as they not drawing any sort of attention to me And overall they look pretty great The only problem I do have still is if I tucked the cable underneath my jacket collar
1:37
it can get stuck thanks to the coating they have on there, but it's a pretty easy fix just
1:41
to pull them out. Speaking of the coating of them, they've got this anti-tangle property to them, so no matter
1:47
how you fold them up, they're not going to come out or tangled up, even if you just throw them into your pocket
1:52
In terms of folding them up for the case though, that's a little tricky
1:56
As the flex form cable is quite rigid, it can be a bit of a circus act to get them in, neatly
2:00
into the case they come with, but you can get there in the end
2:04
Due to that though, I tend to just throw these straight into my pocket on my backpack as I can't
2:09
be bothered messing around with the crappy case. Plus the few times I have, trying to get them out of my jeans pocket is a pain in the arse
2:16
In terms of using the beats X, they're great. Super simple to initially set up and pair, thanks to the W1 chip, just like I
2:22
the AirPods, I simply turn them on and place them near my iPhone, press connect and I'm done
2:27
Once paired, I've not had to do it again since, and as soon as I turn them on, my iPhone
2:31
automatically connects to them, so I've not got to swipe around for settings or even choose
2:35
them from control centre. It's how pairing should always be. Apple, bring the W1 ship to more products
2:42
Also, speaking of design, I need to send out a huge apology as I was wrong in both my unboxing
2:47
video and my review video. The beats X do have left and right indicators on them
2:52
So I am sorry I sure I see more comments down below but basically I was too blind to see them and I was looking in the wrong place Instead of being on the buds themselves where I assume they be it actually on the cord underneath but it still very very faint
3:08
I still find the easiest way to distinguish the left bud from the right is by knowing that the controls module is on the left
3:14
So yeah, I just do it that way. The beat tech sound great. It's no secret that I've never been a fan of beat's headphones in the past
3:21
I always thought they were overpriced and the sound was always the worst part of any
3:25
beat's product I tried. Unless you're on the hunt for which speakers or headphones had the most bass
3:31
The beat's X have broken that usual formula though and replaced it with earphones that actually
3:34
sound great. I actually think they sound better than the slightly more expensive AirPods, not a groundbreaking
3:40
difference but enough to notice. They do have more bass in the AirPods
3:44
Again, not enough to distract from any music or take anything away from it, but they've
3:48
got a sound that I really like and that I'm really impressed with. When it comes to phone calls, people on the end of the line say it's very clear when I'm indoors and I can always hear them fine
3:57
Only problem is if I'm outside and there's the slightest breeze. A little bit of wind causes a lot of problems, causing me to repeat myself
4:06
I said causing... Causing me to repeat myself. As I mentioned in the full review, they don't automatically play and pause when removing the earbuds from my ears
4:16
which is a shame, as it's surprisingly useful on the AirPods, but it not too much of a big deal thanks to the built controls Another feature I love about the Beat X is the battery life I can easily get around 8 hours of use granted not in one sitting but it tends to be two or three days before I need to recharge them that including my lullaby usage
4:37
That's even taken into consideration that these don't go into any sort of sleep mode when
4:40
not being used. I have to manually turn these off when I wake up
4:45
When I do need to recharge though, it's super quick, just as it says on the box
4:49
I get around 50% charge for plugging them in for around 15 minutes. which is great as I'm Keith remembering to charge anything and it's only getting worse
4:57
with the most of I accumulate. I've seen a lot of people complaining that they're not water or sweatproof, but they
5:02
are apparently sweatproof. As you can probably tell, I don't work out enough. Troll
5:08
But the few times that I have whilst wearing these, they've been absolutely fine
5:12
And I sweat a fair bit whilst trying to shed some pounds, so you should have no problems
5:17
Finally, there's the price. They retail for around $150 in the States, which at first
5:22
First glance can seem like a lot of money for a pair of earbuds. But if you take a look at the competitors like these, they're actually pretty fairly priced
5:32
Well, it's it for this video, but if you've got a pair of beats X, let me know your thoughts on them
