Hey what's up I'm Steve with Cult of Mac and today I am going to share with you 4 great
0:04
tips to make you a Snapchat master. So let's get started. One of if not the feature of Snapchat is that your images disappear within a set amount
0:13
of time, letting you be creative, silly or racy as you see fit, without the worry of
0:18
those images sticking around or getting posted to the web. You can take a screenshot of any Snapchat and save it to your camera roll, the only
0:25
problem is Snapchat countered this by letting the person you're connected with know when
0:29
you try to sneak a screenshot of their photo. There is a simple work around though, when you've gotten a Snapchat you want to take
0:36
a screenshot of, simply swipe up on the bottom of your iPhone screen and tap on the airplane
0:40
icon there, this will turn off all of the networking features of your iPhone
0:45
Next take a screenshot of the Snapchat by pressing the home and sleep wake button at
0:49
the same time. After you've taken the screenshot, go to the main Snapchat camera screen and log out
0:55
Then close the app with a double click of the home button and swipe the Snapchat app up off your iPhone screen
1:01
Now take your iPhone out of airplane mode and log back in to Snapchat
1:05
Boom, no one is the wiser. Snapchat lets you filter your snaps with the colour, temperature or name of the city you're in
1:15
But did you know you could create a snap with more than one of these cool things? It's relatively simple but as with many things with the popular app, it's not super easy
1:22
to find with the weird interface that Snapchat uses. Once you've taken your snap, swipe from the right of your screen and choose a colour
1:29
Now hold one thumb on the image with the colour filter applied, then swipe from the left side
1:34
of your screen to add a second filter, like the name of your city, the temperature, the
1:38
time or how fast you're travelling. Finally you can doodle and add stickers and text to your snap as usual
1:44
If you're looking to show a little local pride in Snapchat, the app made it pretty
1:48
easy to make and upload your own geo filter so that you and anyone else who's in your
1:53
location can swipe right and show off a custom geo filter. All you need is a graphics package like Illustrator, Photoshop or Pixelmator, a little bit of time
2:01
and you can represent your town with a custom Snapchat geo filter. Here's how
2:05
Head over to Snapchat's geo filter page on your Mac or PC and click on create now
2:10
If you're a graphics whiz you can create your own template. But let's click next to get through the specifications page and get to the page where you define
2:17
your geo location. At the top, click on download template for either Photoshop or Illustrator
2:23
If you're using Pixelmator, choose the Photoshop template. Open up the template in the graphics package of your choice and delete the layer with all
2:30
of the text on it. Then create your graphics masterpiece. The simpler the better of course, you don't want to obscure your snaps with a full screen image
2:39
Once you're finished, export your graphic to your desktop as a transparent PNG
2:44
Then back on the Snapchat website using the map on the geo filter page, click on the map
2:48
to surround the area you're making the graphic for. You can right click on any mistakes that you make
2:53
This will be the location where your image, if accepted, will show up for Snapchatters
2:57
Then upload your image. Fill in your details and a little sentence about why the area you chose is important
3:03
to you. Click through all the check boxes, including the one that proves you're not a robot somehow
3:08
and hit submit. That's it, you're good to go. As soon as it's approved by Snapchat, you should be able to right swipe when you're
3:14
at the location you defined and find your awesome artwork. Doodling on Snapchat is fun
3:20
It lets you customise just about any snap with the power of your own art history, or
3:25
lack thereof. If you've noticed though, when you choose the colour for said doodle, there's no white
3:29
or black options. And what if you want something in between red and white, like say, pink
3:34
To choose a colour normally, tap on the little pencil icon in the upper right once you've
3:39
launched Snapchat. You can then run your finger up and down the rainbow colour picker in the upper right to
3:44
choose a colour. To get white though, you'll need to swipe from the colour picker to the top left of
3:48
your screen. Tap and drag the bottom left of the screen to get black
3:53
You can lighten and darken colours too, say making pink from a lighter shade of red
3:59
Simply tap on the colour picker in the red area and drag on the left hand side of the
4:02
screen moving up and down to get your preferred shade. Now you have more colours to mess with, including black and white, to make your Snapchats even
4:10
more colourful. So there you have it, 4 tips to make you a Snapchat pro
