Sure, Apple's challenge for the next Vision Pro, making it easier to wear is the headline
0:06
Apple has already worked on their next generation models. The design for the current model is locked in
0:12
They're just trying to scalp the manufacturing and all that. A key focus for Apple is making its device more comfortable to wear with a smaller and lighter design
0:19
The first model, the Vision Pro, has caused next strain in testing due to its size and weight
0:26
Another challenge is making the headset simpler for people who wear glasses during the
0:29
development of the first Vision Pro, Apple decided to slim down the device by emitting room for
0:35
prescription eyeglasses. I've tried like an Oculus Rift here and there. And, you know
0:41
that, that device is significantly bulky because they intend for you to put it on over top of your
0:46
glasses. And if you have, like, giant glasses like I do, you know, that that means the device
0:51
sticks out further for everybody. And it makes it front heavy, right? Because it's sticking out far
0:56
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the Vision Pro, it's, it's also. made of like glass and aluminum. Right. It sort it's sort of closely matches the the contour
1:06
of your face because they didn't leave their room for the glasses. But the downside there is that
1:10
of course you need to because you're not wearing your glasses if you have god awful eyesight like I do
1:15
I just went in for another eye test last week My eyes say has gotten even worse If you understand what the numbers are are I think my left eye is like minus five and a quarter And the other one is four and three quarters
1:27
Okay. Terrible eyesight. But anyways, Apple's selling like these little inserts made by Zice optical
1:33
that you're supposed to like attach in instead, but that makes it cumbersome to just hand to somebody
1:39
because very few people have eyesight as bad as I do. I can't just hand somebody my vision pro
1:46
if I were to get one, it's more expensive because we don't know what the cost of those
1:49
lens inserts is going to be. I'm not even sure if they're user replaceable either
1:53
because they come with the pre-installed prescription right from the factory, I think
1:59
I thought they were... I don't think that's right. I thought I remember hearing that they're pretty easy to do
2:04
because what we've heard from the people who showed up for the live demos is that people like Mike Hurley
2:11
who wear glasses. They took his glasses for a moment. They like scan the
2:16
curve of the glass and then they estimate what your prescription was like they had a machine for
2:20
that ready to go and then they quickly found matching lenses and just attach them in and had it ready for
2:25
oh interesting well they they attach magnetically right something like that i i think they do anyway
2:31
we don't need to go on and on and on about this but yeah the other problem is that like it's going to
2:35
be really heavy other people are saying that and you can see this in like one of the shots on their announcement video they have an optional top strap that goes over the top of your head as well
2:48
They just don't show it in most of the promotional artwork because apparently like the design for it isn't completely finished yet
2:54
But it's another way they're trying to disguise the problem of how heavy this thing is going to be
3:02
Yeah, I mean, the fact that some people got neck strain. I mean, that was the part that jumped off the page to me
3:06
I'm like, it's so heavy that people are straining their necks wearing these
3:11
Now, look, if you wear AirPods max, those things are heavy. And I would say they could give you neck fatigue
3:17
Maybe that's the same thing as neck strain. I don't really know what neck strain necessarily means
3:21
That's like, but next strain means that like, does that just mean fatigue or does that mean like you're actually injuring your neck
3:29
I don't think it means injure. I don't think it's been injured. I don't mean like you're going to wear like one of those, like, those things that you wear when you get a car accident
3:36
Ride your neck. Go to court after a car. Yeah, exactly. You'll wear one of those, like, neck pillows
3:41
They were on an airplane. Yeah, it comes to the free inflatable neck pillow or something
3:46
I just thought that was surprising. I was like, holy cow, like, it's that heavy that people, like, their, like, their necks
3:51
And maybe these are just, like, puny neck-having individuals like Alex E Heath
3:56
I mean normal regular men like us like our necks you know can hold lots of weight But like his you know small I mean it not quite as small as a pencil but it in that same realm you know Pity the pencil neck geeks
4:09
So maybe that's the problem. But, but I was surprised to read that
4:13
And I was like, you're supposed to be able to wear this thing all day. And some people are, are having neck strain and are having to be a lot last or two hours, right
4:21
Well, you could have it plugged in all day. Apple says it has all day battery life when it's plugged in. Perfect
4:29
Isn't that funny? That's really funny. I like more than being tethered by, you know, I hate plugging
4:35
I'm so into the wireless headphones and stuff. Every time I now have to put on these wired ones for the cult cast
4:40
I'm just like, God, it just seems so antiquated. I know. I hate having the cord hang off as well
4:47
Isaac from the chat saying, I experienced next strain when I first got a quest too
4:51
It's just that you're not used to having it in your head. You get used to it after. Well, yeah, maybe that's it
4:55
you'll get used to it after a while. But I don't know, man. The Vision Pro looks pretty hefty
5:01
And when you put glass on it, that is a heavy material. So I'll be curious to try this out
5:07
But I didn't think that was interesting because I was like, oh, I've not heard anyone comment about this yet
5:12
And clearly it must be an issue of Apple is already working on it for the next Vision Pro
5:16
version because people are complaining that it's giving them next train. So it must be more than a small issue
5:23
But we'll have to wait and see
