Apple may have just released iOS 5 Beta 3 today, but the Dev Team never rests, and the beta has already been jailbroken using the popular tool, RedSn0w. The mouse hasn’t exactly gotten the cat by the tail this time around, though. If you jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 3, prepare to give up all of your third-party App Store apps as punishment.
ModMyi has discovered that App Store apps crash on a jailbroken iDevice running iOS 5 Beta 3. This “sandboxing” issue will cause any app from the App Store to immediately crash upon open. This problem does not exist for non-jailbroken copies of iOS 5 Beta 3.
Obviously, to jailbreak iOS 5, you will need to be a registered Apple developer with access to iOS 5 in the first place. You will also need to download the latest RedSn0w jailbreak tool for either the Mac or Windows.
The jailbreak for iOS 5 Beta 3 is a “tethered” jailbreak, meaning that you will have to re-jailbreak every time you reboot your iDevice. Because of this issue with crashing apps, you should probably just stay away from jailbreaking iOS 5 Beta 3 altogether.
