Mario Kart Tour went live this week — and despite being, technically, free to download its in-app purchases make it pretty pricey. Certainly compared to Apple Arcade.

Eagle-eyed gamers quickly noted that Mario Kart‘s so-called Gold Pass subscription will set you back $4.99 per month. That’s the same price that Apple is charging for its entire 100+ game subscription service!

Mario Kart Tour comes with a bunch of hidden karts and characters that you’ll need to unlock as you play. But your chances of bagging the ones you really want are incredibly slim.

Nintendo has revealed the drop rates for a whole bunch of potential new items. And you’ll be sad to hear the majority have a 1% or lower appearance rate.

It’s been a long time coming, but Mario Kart Tour has finally raced (well, maybe dawdled) into the App Store.

Mario Kart Tour’s first beta test kicked off this week. Nintendo asked testers to refrain from posting images and videos online, but that was never going to happen. And that’s great for those of us who didn’t get beta invites.

Screenshots and clips of the game have now started popping up all over the place. There’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a Mario Kart fan, but it’s not all good news.

You’ll have to wait longer to get your hands on the very first Mario Kart game for Android and iOS.

It is Nintendo’s second big delay in just one week.

Much like Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem Heroes, you’ll be able to enjoy the game without coughing up any cash, though optional in-app purchases will provide some advantage.

In news that’s worthy of celebration, Nintendo says that Mario Kart Tour, a new instalment in its crazy popular kart racing franchise, is coming to iOS.

In a tweet, Nintendo said that, “The checkered flag has been raised and the finish line is near.” However, it’s not revealing exactly when the game will be speeding into the App Store — other than that it will be in the “fiscal year ending in March 2019.”
