5 easy tips to prepare your iPhone 12 Pro for selling
This post is brought to you by Gadget Salvation.
So you decided to part with your iPhone 12 Pro. And naturally, you want to get the best possible offer for it. Whether it has signs of use or is in pristine condition, iPhone 12 Pro is the newest smartphone model, and therefore has great resale value.
But before you go and get rid of it, there are a few things that must be done to actually make your iPhone 12 Pro sellable. For example, getting rid of your personal information, removing it from iCloud, resetting, etc.
Below, we will share how to prepare your used iPhone 12 Pro for sale in five easy steps.
Prepare your iPhone for resale
1. Back up
In order to properly back up your iPhone, you can rely on a cloud service like iCloud or Dropbox, or back it up on your computer to easily restore all your sensitive information once you get a new phone. You can also use an external hard drive to save your pictures, videos, documents and many other files.
To back up your iPhone using iCloud, you’ll need to connect to a Wi-Fi network, open Settings, tap on your name and then iCloud. Scroll down and opt for Back Up Now.
2. Sign out of your accounts
Once you back up your iPhone, the next thing to do is to sign out of all your linked accounts. This will not only prevent unauthorized access to your accounts, but also will allow the new owner to set up the phone with their own information. Log out of your iTunes, iMessage, iCloud and Apple Music accounts.
3. Unpair Apple Watch and AirPods
If you own an Apple Watch and AirPods, make sure to unpair them. To unpair your Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone. Go to the My Watch tab and select your watch from the menu. Then tap on the info button and tap Unpair Apple Watch. As for your AirPods, launch the Settings app, then tap Bluetooth. Tap the info icon next to your AirPods and select Forget This Device.
4. Turn off Find My
If you forget to deactivate the Find My feature before selling your iPhone, the next owner will not be able to use the phone. Therefore, it is essential to complete this step to avoid headaches in the future. To do that, go to the Settings app, tap on your name. Then tap Find My iPhone and toggle the setting to off. Please note that you will be asked to enter your Apple ID password one last time.
5. Wipe and erase your iPhone data
Once the previous steps are completed, you can proceed to erase your iPhone 12 Pro. Once again, open up the Settings app, tap on General and then Reset. Because you already logged out of your accounts and removed your passcodes, there is no other information to enter. Simply tap Erase All Content and Settings to initiate the process. Also, don’t forget to remove your SIM card, as you will likely need it for your next phone.
iPhone 12 Pro trade-in value
Released in late 2020, the iPhone 12 Pro is still fairly a new model. Apple sold a lot of them — the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are the best-selling smartphones in the world. However, that means there is an abundance of choice on the iPhone reselling market right now, and that the iPhone 12 is likely to lose some of its dollar value in the near future. Perhaps sellers won’t feel the impact just yet, as iPhones historically hold great resale value.
Here are some examples of what you can receive, depending on the condition and storage size for your used iPhone 12 Pro.
- A fully functional unlocked iPhone 12 Pro 128GB with some signs of wear can get you up to $473*.
- If you have an unlocked iPhone 12 Pro 512GB that looks and works like new, expect to receive up to $628* cash offer.

In a surprise move, Apple just introduced a brand-new color for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini — purple.
The new color spiced up Apple’s “Spring Loaded” special event Tuesday. It’s an unusual move for Apple, which rarely introduces new colors or finishes mid-cycle.

Soft, premium silicone keeps iPhone 12 protected for under $22 [Review]
Apple will charge you a heck of a lot for a piece of silicone you can slap on the back of your iPhone. And you can get silicone cases almost just as good for a fraction of the price. Elago’s premium MagSafe Silicone case for iPhone 12 is just $21.99 — and it’s absolutely terrific.
Its hybrid design makes for a robust but slim skin that superbly fits your iPhone, and protects it from scratches and scrapes. It’s available in a number of pretty color options, and it’s well worth your cash.
Samsung Galaxy S21 plummets to half its original value in 3 months
Those planning to resell their handset someday might want to steer clear of Samsung latest flagship models. The Galaxy S21 series reportedly lost between 44.8% and 57.1% of its original value since in debut in January 2021.
Of course, every smartphone depreciates over time. But iPhones hold their value better than their rivals.

Apple manufacturer earnings soar on massive iPhone 12 demand
Apple manufacturer Foxconn’s first quarter revenue soared by 44%, Bloomberg reports. The publication pins the increased cashflow on “robust demand” for the iPhone 12.
Revenue for the first three months of 2021 increased to $47 billion, Foxconn reported Tuesday. In addition to the massive success of the latest iPhones, the high earnings also reflect demand for devices like video games consoles, servers, electric vehicles as well.
‘Fumble’ ad shows off the durability of iPhone’s Ceramic Shield
Apple ads consistently find fun, accessible ways of showcasing features without having to resort to technobabble. Case in point: Its new ad showing off the Ceramic Shield for the iPhone 12.
Apple could easily fill a 30-second ad talking about how this specially engineered glass is heat-treated so as to develop nano crystals similar to the ones found in ceramics, which are embedded into the glass matrix of the display. It could talk about the difference between hardness and toughness, and give percentage improvements over last year’s model.
But it doesn’t. Because most people only want to know whether this means they can drop their iPhone without it breaking. That’s where the “Fumble” ad comes in.

iPhone 12 series could be Apple’s bestselling iPhones of all time
The iPhone 12 is on course to give Apple its best-ever year for iPhone sales, according to Wedbush analysts Strecker Backe and Daniel Ives. In a new note to clients seen by Cult of Mac, they predict Apple could sell between 240 million and 250 million iPhones this year.
That would “easily eclipse” Apple’s previous record, set in fiscal 2015, in which it sold 231 million iPhones. That year’s super-sized lineup — the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus — remain the top-selling models in history. However, it looks like that record could soon fall.

iPhone 12 is one of the hottest iPhones in history
The iPhone 12 looks like a monster hit for Apple, a new note to investors by research analysis firm Cowen suggests. The firm estimates that iPhone orders climbed 50% year-over-year last quarter, propelled by the enormously popular iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models.
For the March 2021 quarter, Cowen thinks Apple will build 57 million iPhones. That’s up from the firm’s own previous prediction of 55 million.
Coronavirus delay may have fanned flames of iPhone 12 anticipation
When the coronavirus pandemic hit last year, one of the many, many impacts of the spread was the delaying of Apple’s iPhone 12 series. While Apple and its suppliers were able to claw back some of the lost time, the iPhone 12 devices were ultimately pushed back to late October and early November, rather than the usual September release.
But while this might have been frustrating for Apple and customers alike, a new piece of research suggests it may have actually been a net positive. According to Counterpoint Research, the delay could turn out to have been a prudent move for Apple. It reports:
No throttling here: T-Mobile promises truly unlimited 5G phone plan
T-Mobile’s new 5G plan isn’t limited by data caps or throttling. Its Magenta Max offers unlimited 4G and 5G data to smartphone users. And it includes high-definition video streaming and Netflix on Us.
The plan seeks to stand out from rivals that promise unlimited data but slow down data transfers under certain conditions.
Apple struggles to make MagSafe battery pack for iPhones
Apple reintroduced its MagSafe branding for the magnetic charging and clip-on accessories system for the iPhone 12. But it’s hoping to introduce the best accessory yet with 2021’s iPhone refresh: a magnetically attached battery back.
This will reportedly wirelessly charge handsets on the go, extending the time you can use your iPhone between charges. Unfortunately, Apple is apparently having a few teething problems with it — and these could prove fatal.

There should never be another iPhone mini
iPhone 12 mini is the worst selling of the new iOS handsets by a wide margin. Apple should be embarrassed because there was plenty of evidence before the launch that sales would be poor. Take note: Another super-small iPhone would just compound the mistake.
No more 5.4-inch iPhones. Ever.

iPhone leads the way as global smartphone market begins to turn around
Smartphone sales cratered during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they’re now starting to climb out of the hole, suggest new research from analysts at IDC. And the iPhone 12 is leading the way.
According to data from the IDC Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone vendors shipped 385.9 million devices in the holiday quarter of 2020. Although the year as a whole represents a dip of 5.9% compared to 2019, the last calendar quarter saw 4.3% growth.
