When Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 Pro series in October, it promised a software update for these handsets with support for the new ProRAW format. That update will be iOS 14.3, as this feature is included in the first beta of this upcoming operating system update seeded to developers on Thursday. There are also mentions of AirTags and Apple Studio headphones.

In addition, Apple begin testing the first betas of iPadOS 14.3, watchOS 7.2 and tvOS 14.3.

Maxing out (no pun intended) at $1,399 for the 512GB iPhone 12 Pro Max, Apple’s top-of-the-line iPhone isn’t cheap. But if you live in the United States, you can consider yourself lucky.

That’s because a list assembled by the website TechnoBlog highlights the places in the world where the iPhone 12 is most eye-wateringly (iWateringly?) expensive. The U.S. price looks like a bargain by comparison.

The results are spectacular and informative. And good news for anyone who already got an iPhone 12 Pro.

The first reviews of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini make both of them sound like winners. However, the two devices — which occupy opposite ends of the size spectrum — also elicit some caveats.

Many of the comments sound the same as earlier first impressions of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. But some unique observations apply specifically to Apple’s very large and very small handsets.

Here’s what the early reviewers made of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini.

But that’s not true of the HomePod mini. This small smart speaker can no longer be preordered for delivery on its launch date.

One of 2020's toughest decisions.

Like many other Americans, I face a momentous decision this week. A choice between two polar opposites, each with hard-core backers who say you’re stone-cold crazy if you don’t go with their pick.

I’m talking about, of course, one of the most pressing decisions of 2020: iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 Pro Max. They’re the most exciting iPhones in this year’s lineup, for very different reasons.
