iOS and OS X weren’t the only platforms that got some Apple beta loving today. A new update for Apple TV beta 4 was seeded to developers as well this morning that comes with a long awaited UI makeover.

Apple still hasn’t completely done away with the grid of icons approach for Apple TV, but it has given the UI an iOS 7-style makeover with a new set of icons that are a lot flatter than their old counterparts.

Jailbreaking has been around almost as long as iOS itself, giving users more control over their iPhones and letting them customize almost everything.

iOS 8 is just around the corner and, if the iOS 7 figures are any indicator, it’s likely to find near-total adoption.

Apple just released the latest figures for its current-generation operating system, saying iOS 7 is running on a massive 90 percent of devices. iOS 6, meanwhile, stands at just 9 percent, while earlier versions of iOS represent a minuscule 2 percent combined. iOS 7 was launched 10 months ago in September 2013, making it the fastest-adopted mobile OS in history.

iPhone-6-Clone-03

The Chinese are so good at cloning Apple’s upcoming products that they regularly release fully functional doppelgangers of the next iPhone before Apple has even officially announced it. But these are ‘clones’ in only the vaguest sense, because they always have one major problem: they run Android, not iOS.

But that’s not true with this iPhone 6 clone. Although it looks exactly like an iPhone 6, it appears to be running iOS 7, not Android.

July 4th may be (sadly) over, but Apple’s latest mobile OS is all too happy to tell you when the national holiday might be. It could be lying, though.

iOS 7.1.2 features a bug in its Calendar app, which gives the wrong list of holidays in certain countries. The bug was first spotted by an iPad user in Lithuania, who claims that Apple has acknowledged the error.

Talk about quick off the mark! iOS 7.1.2 may have only just been released, but the Pangu jailbreak (which offers an untethered solution for iOS 7.1.x-powered Apple devices) is already compatible with the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system.

This means that it is safe for jailbreakers to update to the latest version of iOS, before re-jailbreaking their iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with the same Pangu method.

Flat with a chance of transparency: Weather Channel for iPad gets iOS 7 makeover

A couple of months after debuting its new look iPhone app complete with updated iOS 7 design, The Weather Channel has finally given its iPad app the same treatment — with a new look interface that is “closely aligned to the iOS 7 aesthetic.”

While it’s certainly taken its time (apparently weather apps change a whole lot slower than the weather itself), there’s no disputing that the app looks better than ever, with a flat interface and simple menu that makes this particular meteorology app incredibly easy to use.
