Trendy design awards proclaim Apple Watch Hermès ‘life enhancer of the year’

Trendy lifestyle magazine Wallpaper* has named the Apple Watch Hermès as 2015’s “Life Enhancer of the Year” in its annual design awards.

The awards were judged by a panel including the architect David Adjaye, jewellery designer Delfina Delettrez, legendary ad man George Lois, Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, and designers Patricia Urquiola and Konstantin Grcic. They appear in the magazine’s February 2016 issue.

The Apple Watch isn’t even out yet, and already it’s picking up major design awards. The award in question here is the prestigious 2015 iF Design Gold Award, a prize sometimes referred to as a “Design Oscar.”

The awards were first introduced in 1954, and attract more than 2,000 product entries from 37 different nations — with expert judges ruling based on outstanding design quality.

Mac and iOS apps can be nominated to win the most prestigious developer awards Apple gives each year, and past winners include apps like Infinity Blade and Things.

Registered iOS developers can nominate apps today and Apple will announce the winners at WWDC in June.

Napoleon, a historical epic from director Ridley Scott, will begin streaming on Apple TV+ at the beginning of March, after having its global premier in theaters in November.

The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte, the French emperor who conquered much of Europe. It details the tyrant’s ruthless rise to power and his obsessive love for his wife, Empress Josephine.

After Killers of the Flower Moon attracted 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Apple and Paramount Pictures agreed to rerelease the historical crime drama in theaters starting Friday.

The film, directed by Martin Scorsese and written by him and Eric Roth, will see a limited run in 1,000+ locations worldwide, Apple said.

Apple TV+ received 10 Oscar nominations for Martin Scorsese’s historical epic Killers of the Flower Moon Tuesday — including Best Picture — and three for Ridley Scott’s historical epic Napoleon.

It’s the streamer’s second Best Picture nomination from the Academy Awards. (CODA got the nomination and won the award in 2022, making Apple TV+ the first streaming service to do so.) But these award are special for Apple TV+ for other reasons, as well.

The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards showered Apple TV+ with 11 nominations Wednesday for acclaimed Apple Original Film Killers of the Flower Moon as well as hit TV shows The Morning Show, Lessons in Chemistry and the one that ended but keeps winning accolades, Ted Lasso.

The awards will be presented on February 23 in Los Angeles.

Wells’ action-packed bestsellers center on a robot that breaks the programming that forces it to kill. The move allows the android to go freelance as a security specialist.
