What's up guys, Stephen Colt of Mac here and just like clockwork, Apple has released
0:07
yet another beta for iOS 11. So in this video, I'm going to show you everything that's new in beta 5
0:12
Let's get started. So here is iOS 11 beta 5. The release notes list a bevy of bug fixes and performance improvements as to be expected
0:22
For example, the bug that crashed some iPhones when hitting the AirPlay button on videos that are in a window is now fixed, as well as a bug that crashed the calendar app when
0:28
trying to drag items into it. What wasn't necessarily expected was the removal of iCloud messages, which stored the message
0:35
database in iCloud. It does note though that this will be restored in a future update, so it's likely just a
0:39
fix for some issues that they've come across. Within Control Center, the music widget has had a bit of a tweak
0:45
As you can see, there's a new animated signal icon to quickly change between devices using AirPlay
0:50
The notification changes that we saw in beta 4 have also been improved, allowing you to
0:54
now swipe to open, as opposed to just tapping open. Also of note, there's a few minor icon tweaks, such as lines removed from the camera icon
1:01
and the settings icon is a little bit darker, which actually helps it to stand out more
1:05
But unfortunately, they've not sorted out the messy reminders app icon, which has the coloured bullet points on the right hand side
1:11
An interesting new feature is the ability to take live photos within FaceTime
1:15
So there's a new button at the bottom left that allows you to take live photos of a FaceTime interaction, as well as a new FaceTime dial sound effect
1:27
The camera app now has a new tutorial screen when you enter portrait mode for the first time
1:32
Unfortunately, I can't show you this as I'm not running the beta on a plus model, but what I can show you is a new camera level that appears for downward facing photos as
1:38
long as you've got the grid turned on. There are a few bugs though
1:42
For example, when closing apps, the previews begin to vanish before they're swiped away
1:46
In the case of the iPad, there's no new big changes, only another tutorial screen for
1:50
using the dock and app switcher. iOS 11 will be released to the public this September
1:54
Well, that's it for this video, but let me know in the comments section down below if
1:59
you've installed beta 5 and come across any changes or tweaks that I've not mentioned
